The Fulbright Israel Higher Education Administrators Award invites you to a two-week group seminar in June 2027 for an in-depth look at Israel's higher education and research landscape: expert briefings, campus visits, meetings with government representatives, networking, cultural activities, and conversations with Israeli international education professionals.

Israel is home to 57 accredited institutions serving over 334,000 students, with roughly 6.1% of GDP invested in education and research, and a national commitment to academic excellence and global research collaboration. This past Wednesday, the Fulbright Israel community came together to celebrate new beginnings and lasting connections.

We were delighted to welcome our newest Israeli Fulbright Fellows for their Pre-Departure Orientation as they prepare to embark on their academic and research journeys in the United States. Throughout the day, the fellows connected with alumni, received practical guidance, and became part of the Fulbright family.

The day concluded with our Annual Reception at the ANU Museum at Tel Aviv University, bringing together alumni, fellows, Committee members, partners, and friends of Fulbright Israel to mark both 250 years of the United States and 70 years of Fulbright Israel.

We were honored by the presence of representatives of Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, distinguished Fulbright alumni, and Deputy Chief of Mission David Brownstein from the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, who delivered welcoming remarks and handed certificates to our American Fulbright Fellows, who are completing their academic year in Israel and preparing to return home.

As Fulbright Israel celebrates 70 years of advancing academic excellence and strengthening the ties between Israel and the United States, we are proud to support the next generation of scholars, researchers, educators, and leaders who will continue building bridges through knowledge, collaboration, and shared values.

Congratulations to all of our fellows: those beginning their Fulbright journey and those concluding an unforgettable year in Israel. We wish you every success in the exciting chapters ahead!

Did you know that a beehive is considered one living organism? 🐝

Fulbright Israel fellows recently had the opportunity to learn about biodynamic beekeeping with Yossi Aud at his home just outside Jerusalem, where he has more than 30 beehives.

During the visit, fellows explored the vital role bees play in sustaining ecosystems and supporting life on our planet. Yossi also shared insights into his inspiring initiatives, including Bees for Peace, highlighting how beekeeping can foster connection and cooperation across communities.

Thank you, Yossi, for welcoming us and sharing your expertise, passion, and dedication to protecting these essential pollinators.

Savannah Sandage, a master’s fellow from Arkansas, shares, I am currently pursuing an MA in archaeology and the Ancient Near East at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem as part of the Fulbright program. One of the most meaningful aspects of my experience so far has been the opportunity to study languages and subjects, such as Sumerian and Egyptian hieroglyphics, that I had not previously been able to access. Being able to engage directly with these areas of study in a region so central to their history has made the academic experience especially impactful.

Fulbright Israel has also done an excellent job of orienting participants and fostering immediate connections among students. From the beginning, there was a strong sense of community and support, which made the transition to studying abroad much smoother. That support system has continued throughout the program and has been an important part of my experience. Overall, this experience has broadened both my academic perspective and personal outlook, and I am grateful for the opportunity to study, connect, and grow in such a unique environment.

Meet Amanda Bruckstein, a Fulbright Israel 2025-26 Open Research fellow!

Amanda reflects on her experience: "My Fulbright experience in Israel has been incredibly enriching, professionally, academically, and personally. As a research fellow at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in the Laboratory of Food Chemistry and Bioactives, I have strengthened my technical laboratory skills while also connecting with a group of brilliant researchers who have encouraged me to grow as a developing scientist. I feel fortunate to be part of such a welcoming and collaborative lab environment, guided by an outstanding mentor and surrounded by colleagues who are both supportive and passionate about their work.

Beyond the lab, living in Israel has allowed me to form meaningful connections with the culture and community around me. This experience has fundamentally shaped the way I view research, cultural exchange, and international collaboration, and I am incredibly grateful for the lasting impact it will have on my future. "
