I trust the training because I know the author. ME.
HYROX Rome. September 2026
There is always a moment in a race when training stops being something you did, and becomes something you trust.
The body gets tired.
The noise gets louder.
And underneath all of it, there is the work.
The sessions, the years, the boring repetition.
The discipline. The days when motivation had very little to do with it.
And this time I want to resist something we often do after a finish line: immediately hand pieces of the achievement away…
Gratitude matters. But so does authorship!
I came to this start line carrying 26 years of running, years of endurance sport, countless hours of training, mistakes, injuries, rebuilding, learning, and choosing to show up again, every single day!
People can support us.
Guide us.
Inspire us.
Walk beside us for part of the road.
But nobody can put in the work for us.
Natasha — you have been one of those women in my life who has believed in me for years, and whose strength continues to inspire me.
And to the beautiful young woman Tatiana .cst I met that morning, racing beside me with that huge smile and infectious energy, you became part of this memory.
The rest? I know who did the work.
And I think there is something important in being able to say that without apologising for it. It is not arrogance. It is self-awareness. And, more than anything, ownership.
As a mental coach, I talk a lot about confidence being built from evidence.
This is mine.
Not because every session was perfect.
Not because I did everything alone.
But because I kept showing up.
I trust the training because I know the author.
And maybe part of becoming stronger is learning to be grateful for the people beside us, without giving away the pen.
Grateful for the people along the way.
