Eco-Israel on the Hava and Adam Ecological Farm

Our 30th cohort of Eco Israel has officially finished their permaculture design course and presented their projects! 🌻🌞

Throughout the program they learned permaculture, mud building, natural pharmacy and more and succeeded in creating a project that includes their past months of learning. We are so proud of you and cannot wait to see what the future has in store! 🧚🏼

Last week we visited Jerusalem 🧚🏼

We had fun dipping in the spring of Ein U*i in the Jerusalem hills, seeing Rina’s yurt and Al having a permaculture lesson of ecology in her house and going around Ein Kerem with Achinoam!

Not only did we see amazing views but we learned about permaculture in a different setting and the importance of Jerusalem in Judaism and how Ein Kerem is a center for Jewish and spiritual life. 🌞🌻

Having fun on our north trip!

We visited Alik in Kalil who told us how he grows all of his own food, took a hike along Nahal Cziv, took the cable car in Rosh Hanikra and walked around the old city of Akko. 🌞

A HUGE mazal tov and kol hakavod to Sophie, an Eco Israel alum on finishing her permaculture project! During Eco Israel the participants do a theoretical permaculture project that puts together all of the knowledge and tools that they have learned throughout the program. Sophie decided to do a permaculture garden on the roof of which is an amazing program in which she had participated in.

During eco israel she learned how to:
✅ Plant a garden using permaculture priciples like seasons of plants, compaction plants and more.
✅ How to use power tools and to make her own garden beds and furniture.
✅ How to use recycled material for her benefit.
✅ How to compost.
✅ Overall to plan and execute a project including tools, budget and ecology!

Our Eco Israel participants are having a blast on their south trip! 🌻

We traveled down to the desert of Israel to Kibbutz Neot Smadar to visit another way of life in Israel. 🌞

Our week has started off in the southern desert of Israel with a trip to Kibbutz Lotan! 🌞

We walked around the eco-village of the kibbutz where we saw how they build with mud and toured around the ecokef to see their gardens and mud art. 🌻

A few times a year the Hava Veadam farm has a festival to celebrate the holidays and nature with residents of Modi’in and all throughout Israel! 🌻

The farm community came together to put together different stations for activities. Some of the activities included making flower crowns, mobiles from nature, mud bricks, mud art, natural face painting and more!

Last week our Eco Israel group took a trip to a local spring. There are many springs all over Israel and this specific one is from the 3rd century.

We also took a walk around the spring and found caves, plants and wild asparagus! 🥳

Here at Eco Israel we are in the heart of the recruitment process for the 2023-2024 school year!

Eco israel has 2 sessions a year, one from September-January and another from February- July.

This 5 month gap year program is perfect for 18-23 year olds who want a once in a lifetime experience to connect to nature in ways that they have not before. During their time on the Hava Veadam farm they will learn permaculture, natural pharmacy, mud building, weaving and more!!
