Many believers are used to hearing that Moses missed the Promised Land simply because he struck the rock instead of speaking to it (Numbers 20:12). While that moment mattered, Scripture reveals something far deeper, more beautiful, and profoundly prophetic.

This wasn’t just about an action.

It was about a story God was telling, a story pointing directly to Jesus. ✝️

🔥Moses Represents the Law and the Law Cannot Bring Us Into the Promise. (In Galatians 3:10, Paul is actually quoting Deuteronomy 27:26, i.e. if you rely on the Law you must keep all of it, which is impossible and why we need Jesus 💝)

In Deuteronomy 34:4, God allows Moses to see the land, but not enter it.

This is symbolic:
🔥Moses represents the Law.
🔥The Promised Land represents God’s presence, rest, and salvation.
🔥The Law can show us God’s holiness.
🔥The Law can reveal the promise.
🔥But the Law cannot take us in.

This is exactly what the apostle John later reveals:

“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 1:17

Moses brings us to the border.
But only Jesus brings us home.

Joshua Leads the People In and Joshua’s Name Is Jesus’ Name

When Moses dies, Joshua 1:1-9 opens with God commissioning Joshua to lead Israel into the land.

Here’s the prophetic key:

🔥Joshua = Yeshua = Jesus

“Joshua” is the English form of the Hebrew name Yeshua, the very same name given to Jesus 🔥

So the transition from Moses to Joshua is not just historical, it’s prophetic.
📜Moses (the Law) cannot save.
✝️Joshua/Yeshua (Jesus) brings us into God’s promise.

This is the gospel hidden in plain sight in the Old Testament. ~ Sabrina 💜

One of the things I genuinely love about being a Deanery Synod Rep is the chance to visit different churches across the area. Every building carries its own story, its own beauty, its own architecture that quietly testifies to generations of worship and prayer. I always leave with a deeper appreciation for the Body of Christ in all its expressions. 😍❤️

Tonight’s meeting was such a gift. We were joined by the Diocese of Rochester’s Racial Justice Officer, who shared her role and offered an honest, hope filled update on the diocesan Racial Justice work so far.

She opened up space for real conversation, how our churches can respond to the social challenges around us, how we support increasingly diverse congregations, and how we cultivate belonging, participation and inclusion in every part of church life. It was a thoughtful, and engaging evening. Thank You Jesus. ✝️

🌅RAMDAN SERIES - WEEK 5
Jesus & Isa - Two Very Different Portraits

This week we close our Ramadan Bible Series with the most important question of all:

Who is Jesus and can the Isa of the Qur’an be the same person?

Islam teaches that Isa was not crucified, that someone else was made to look like him, and that God caused the world to believe something that never happened.

But the Bible gives us a completely different portrait, one rooted in eyewitness testimony, fulfilled prophecy, historical record, and the very heart of the gospel.

The God of the Bible does not deceive.

He does not mislead nations.

He does not disguise the innocent.

He does not build salvation on an illusion.

“God is not a man that He should lie.” (Numbers 23:19)
“It is impossible for God to lie.” (Hebrews 6:18)
If the crucifixion were only an appearance, then God Himself would be the author of deception and the entire New Testament collapses.

The Bible is clear:
Jesus willingly went to the cross.
He truly died.
He truly rose.
And salvation rests on this real, historical, witnessed event.
“Christ died for our sins… He was buried… He was raised on the third day.” (1 Corinthians 15:3–4)
“By His wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

The Isa of Islam was not crucified, not risen, not the Son of God.
The Jesus of Scripture is Lord, Saviour, God in the flesh - the One who conquered death.

These cannot both be true.
And this is why the crucifixion matters:
- Because without the cross, there is no atonement.
- Without the resurrection, there is no salvation.
- Without the true Jesus, there is no gospel.

As we finish this series, may our hearts be anchored in the One who did die, did rise, and does save, the true Jesus, the Son of the living God. ~Sabrina 💜

🌅 RAMADAN SERIES - WEEK 4
Yahweh & Allah - are they the same God?

One of the most common beliefs in our culture is that “all religions worship the same god.”

But when we look closely at Scripture and at the Qur’an, we see that Christianity and Islam are not simply two paths to one deity..

They reveal two different Gods with different names, different natures, different character, and different ways of salvation.
This matters deeply to the God of the Bible, because who we worship shapes everything about our faith, our identity in Christ, our salvation, our relationship with Him, and our eternity.

⚠️ WHY THIS MATTERS ⚠️

If the God we worship is:

✝️ Not the God of Scripture
✝️ Not the covenant making Father
✝️ Not the incarnate Son
✝️ Not the indwelling Spirit
✝️ Not the crucified and risen Lord

then we are not worshipping the God who saves. Christianity and Islam cannot be pointing to the same God because their Gods make opposite claims about Jesus, and Jesus Himself is the centre of the Christian faith.

The Bible is clear:

❤️ Who God is matters.

❤️ How He reveals Himself matters.

❤️ Whom we worship matters.

"You must not have any other god but me." Exodus 20:3

"So fear the LORD and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD alone." Joshua 24:1

"I an the LORD; there is no other God. I have equipped you for battle, though you don't even know me." Isaiah 45:5

🌅 RAMADAN SERIES - WEEK 3
The Qur'an VS The Bible

As we look at the Qur’an and the Bible side by side this week, it’s important to understand what research shows about how the Qur’an was formed and how it relates to earlier Scripture.

What research shows:

☪️ Muslims believe the Qur’an was revealed to Muhammad over a period of 23 years.

☪️ After Muhammad’s death, the early Muslim community faced disagreements over recitation, so the text was compiled under the caliph Abu Bakr and then standardised again under Uthman around 20 years after Muhammad’s death. During Uthman’s standardisation, all other written and oral versions were ordered to be destroyed, leaving only the authorised copy.

☪️ Islamic scholarship openly acknowledges the existence of variant readings (qirā’at).

☪️ The Qur’an retells many biblical stories, but often with significant theological changes.

From an apologetics perspective:

✝️ The Qur’an claims to confirm previous Scripture, yet its teachings frequently contradict the Bible.

✝️ The Bible is rooted in multiple authors, centuries of manuscripts, archaeology, fulfilled prophecy, and eyewitness testimony.

✝️ The Qur’an, by contrast, depends entirely on the revelations of one man, with no external corroboration.

What Scripture affirms:

✝️ God preserves His word (Isaiah 40:8).
✝️ All Scripture is God‑breathed (2 Timothy 3:16).
✝️ Jesus declares that His words will never pass away (Matthew 24:35).

This week’s study helps us see why the foundations of Christianity and Islam lead in such different directions and why understanding those differences matters for anyone seeking clarity, confidence, and truth. ~Sabrina 💜

🌅 RAMADAN SERIES - WEEK 2
Is Muhammad a Prophet according to the Bible?

Today in our Ramadan Bible Series, we’re looking at one of the most significant questions in understanding how Christianity and Islam diverge: Who was Muhammad, and how does his role compare to what Scripture teaches about true prophecy?

Islam presents Muhammad as the final prophet, the “Seal of the Prophets”, whose revelations were delivered through the angel Gabriel (from the Bible) and whose life is recorded in later Islamic writings. For Muslims, he is the model to follow.

But when we turn to the Bible, we see that God gives very specific tests for recognising a true prophet. Their message must align with God’s previous revelation, their words must be truthful and fulfilled, and no new message can contradict the gospel already given.

Scripture teaches that:
✝️ A true prophet must speak in full alignment with God’s previous revelation (Deuteronomy 13).
✝️ Their words must be truthful and the events they prophesied come to pass exactly as presented in the prophecy (Deuteronomy 18).
✝️ No later message, even one claimed to come from an angel, can contradict the gospel already given (Galatians 1).
✝️ God’s final and complete revelation comes through Jesus, not through any later figure (Hebrews 1 and John 14).

When we apply these biblical tests, Muhammad cannot be recognised as a prophet in the biblical sense, because his message introduces teachings that differ from and contradict the gospel already revealed in Christ.

Scripture also makes it clear that God’s final and complete revelation comes through Jesus Himself.

Every major and minor prophet recognised by Christianity is mentioned in the Bible by name.

If Muhammad were truly the final prophet within the biblical line, we would expect him to appear in Scripture, yet he does not. This absence is significant, especially since the Bible names prophets centuries before they were born.

Study Note:
In the Bible, the terms Major Prophet and Minor Prophet don’t refer to importance or spiritual rank. The distinction is simply about the length of their books.

Major Prophets wrote longer books.
Minor Prophets wrote shorter books.

All of them were genuine prophets of God, the titles only reflect the size of their writings, not their significance. ~Sabrina 💜

✨ Kids Church Sunday ✨

Today we explored The Lord’s Prayer, helping the children to learn how simple, honest conversations with God help us “walk in step” with Him.

We baked bread, prayed together, and my little group even made their own dinner mats… and their creativity was incredible!! ❤️

But the best part was hearing their own interpretations of the prayer.

Children have this way of saying something so simple yet so deeply true - little voices, big theology! 🔥

Some of their reflections were genuinely profound. ❤️

There’s something beautiful about listening to them share stories about them talking to Jesus and helping them to realise that their daily prayer is like daily bread for the soul, nourishing, steady, and always available. ✝️

Thank you so much for volunteering with Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity (GOSH Charity). You're part of a wonderful community, all joining together to give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer.

Every day, more than 750 seriously ill children and young people are seen at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) from all over the UK. These young patients and their families are often facing the most difficult moments of their lives. Thanks to you, we can wrap around them, making their time in hospital that little bit easier.

Together, we help to fund groundbreaking research, cutting-edge medical equipment and the creation of child-centred facilities to help save more young lives, as well as essential services that help save childhoods too.

🌅 RAMADAN SERIES - WEEK 1

The Origins of Islam
Today we begin our Ramadan Bible Series: Understanding Islam Through a Biblical Lens.

To understand the differences between Christianity and Islam, we first need to look at where Islam begins and how its story connects or indeed doesn’t connect to the biblical narrative.

Islam teaches that its roots trace back to Abraham through Ishmael. But when we look at Scripture and the historical record, a different picture emerges. The Bible preserves an unbroken genealogy from Abraham onward, while the Ishmael & Muhammad connection appears many centuries later and isn’t supported by historical evidence.

Most significantly, the biblical story makes it clear that God establishes His covenant through Isaac, a detail that shapes the entire trajectory of the Christian faith and sets it apart from the Islamic narrative. ~ Sabrina 💜
