Our project started in 2018 with the establishment of an outdoors classroom for Urban Agriculture Studies, at the heart of the city park. This classroom, shaped as a geodesic dome, was built with the help of students as part of their curriculum at the Yshai School for Gifted Students. It was fully supported by the City Park of the city of Kfar Saba. The objective was to engage students with meaningful ecology learning by doing something feasible in the real world. In addition our school director emphasized the necessity for encouraging gifted students to step out of their elitist ivory tower, and get involved and give back to the community. The city of Kfar Saba is entitled as A Green City, therefore developing an ecology learning center run by youth at the city park felt like a natural continuation to other green projects around. Two years later our pioneer outdoors classroom turned into a modest Urban Agriculture Center, which 7th-9th graders take full part in research and development, construction and build. It nowadays includes:
• Makerspace
• R&D Center for Renovation in Urban Agriculture
• Therapeutic Garden
• Hydroponic Agriculture and Community Gardening Nursery
• Classroom 02 - demonstrates sustainable structure of reused tires, plastic waste and mud. Acknowledgments
