How much weight, if any, have you gained this winter?
If you're trying to lose weight, it's worth keeping in mind that -
1. It takes time. Be patient, focus on changing eating habits, on the "process", not just the goal, and there's a higher chance you'll succeed at both losing the weight and at keeping it off.
2. Being physically active is obviously important. But as far as weight loss goes, it's about 80% nutrition and 20% exercise, so make sure to invest time and energy in the kitchen, not just the gym
3. You need to plan. What will you be having for dinner tomorrow? What about lunch? Do you have the ingredients at home? Plan, shop and prepare in advance and honestly, as long as you stick with it, you're already halfway there.

I love this photo, but I also don't.
Aces to Yael B.C Photography, she nailed it. For sure the sporty- glossy image was going for.
But at the time I was also scared and hoping for the best. That through sheer stubbornness and persistence I'd make it to the other side

I often enjoy exercising early in the morning. While my kids are still asleep and before I go to work. But itโs not uncommon for me to also want to sleep. Till the very last second possibleโฆ
Getting up early in the morning to workout can be challenging. This is what helps get me out the door anyway:
Prepare in Advance โ The night before, I make sure to put out everything I'll need for the following morning: Workout clothes, shoes and earphones. Last thing Iโll need, 1st thing in the morning, is to be emptying out my bag on the dining room table looking for earphones, just to discover that they need to be recharged.
A great Playlist โMusic motivates us to move. It creates a vibe, a mindset, and provides joy and pleasure. That's why I make sure to have a playlist I love: For gym, jogging, stretching, the works. Who wouldnโt want to begin their day with great music and a positive vibe, even if it means sleeping a bit lessโฆ ?
Diarize it โ Itโs not enough to โplanโ on working out at 06:00 on a Wednesday morning. Diarize it. Once itโs in my diary, itโs a commitment I have made and there is less chance of me hitting the snooze button, when the alarm clock rings at 05:45โฆ

As you can see in the photo, my right foot and I were just in Sinai. We were at our first AcroYoga retreat with about 40 other participants from Israel, Europe and the U.S.A.
In his amazing book regarding trauma, Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk states "Our capacity to destroy one another is matched by our capacity to heal one another."
With the war in Ukraine and each of our own personal experiences, it's clear we have the capacity to destroy each other. In more ways than one.
But at the retreat I experienced the opposite. Our capacity to embrace, to heal one another. A power we hold both as a collective, and as individuals.
I am deeply grateful for the many acts of trust, kindness, and care I felt from everyone I met and interacted with at the retreat.

The weather is warmer, tank tops are out, and as a trainer I find myself being asked more than usual, about nutrition, diets, and on how to lose weight. I think we all feel pressure to look our best, myself included.
But before discussing WHAT to eat, itโs worth paying attention to HOW we eat.
Sit.
Put your phone away.
Take the time and eat with ease and care.
Donโt rush it.
Standing by the kitchen counter as you rush to finish lunch, is one thing. But taking the time to eat mindfully and to appreciate the food you have, is another.
Why bother taking the time?
Because thatโs how we show respect and appreciation. Both to ourselves and to the food we have.
A cliche? Maybe. But having enough and nutritious food isn't a given.
Calorie - counting vs. low carb vs. high fat diets are another discussion. Letโs first go back to basics. To gratitude and appreciation.

Recently my diet had gotten off track.
My schedule had changed, leaving me feeling off balance and I had been pretty down as well. I began taking the liberty to say to myself "It's cool to take a break and eat less rigidlyโ.
But what happens when "less rigidly" becomes "too lenient and unhealthy"?
Eating well can be a challenge. The following steps helped me get back on track:
1. Define your WHY: I reminded myself that eating healthily had been important to me. But Why had it been of any significance to me and what does "eating healthily" even mean?
Find your "Why's". Address the questions and answering them sincerely. It may help change your mindset and encourage you to focus on your wellbeing.
2. Strive for BALANCE, not perfection: It's not about all or nothing. Balance is important. An occasional slice of pizza or bowl of ice cream, are part of a balanced diet and of a healthy approach to food. It's the perfectly calculated diets with no or little leeway, that ultimately fail.
3. Maintain FLEXIBILITY: It may take a few days to get back on track and eat well, and even once you do, things may change and you'll need to readjust. (An upcoming vacation for example). Readjustments are built in. Accept this and go with the flow.
