ד''ר סלטון חוקרת ומנהלת את המעבדה לחקר שינויים בעריכת גנים אצל אינדיבידואלים עם אוטיזם בהפקולטה לרפואה האוניברסיטה העברית Faculty of Medicine. תמר הגיעה למעבדה לראשונה כחלק מעבודת גמר בביה''ס יאסא - IASA בירושלים בו היא לומדת ומעיין מספרת שהחיבור היה מיידי: "תמר התעניינה בנושאים שהמעבדה שלי חוקרת, ונפגשנו כשהיא חיפשה מעבדה לבצע בה את עבודת הגמר שלה. מדי שבוע היא הגיעה למעבדה לכמה שעות. זה זמן מועט מדי, בדרך כלל הוא רק מאפשר לתלמידות ולתלמידים לקבל הצצה למחקר, אבל עבודת הגמר שלה, בהנחיית אופיר גמינדר, סטודנטית לרפואה שעושה דוקטורט במעבדה שלי, הייתה הרבה יותר מכך.

היא הצליחה להבין את החלק התיאורטי לעומק, ביצעה מחקר מעשי וגם בו הראתה יכולות גבוהות מאוד. אני בטוחה שתמר תצליח בכל קריירה שתבחר, והיכולות שגרמו לה להצטיין בעבודת הגמר ישרתו אותה בעתיד. נשים מצליחות מהוות דוגמה לאחיותיהן הנשים, וזוהי התרומה של תמר ושלי לצמצום הפער בין גברים ונשים בחברה הישראלית".

נשמע שיש לתמר מקום שמור אצלנו באוניברסיטה בעוד כמה שנים😉
