A delegation of four representatives of the Buddhist College of Minnan, in Fujian province, South East China, two of them monks, visited Leo Baeck College today on a fact-finding mission. They met with Rabbi Dr Charles Middleburgh, Dean and Director of Jewish Studies, for detailed discussions about the College and the ways it functions. The Buddhist College is of a similar size to Leo Baeck and the Chinese delegation stressed that its high reputation for excellence made their visit while in the UK essential to their mission. A beautiful calligraphed scroll was presented to the College as a gift to mark their visit. Charles said: it was an intense session with extremely pertinent questions but also a wonderful way of making new connections with academic colleagues on the other side of the world.
