Hey, look what I just found crumpled in the street outside our house!
Finally I have a real physical object that I can use to explain to kids why the "save" button on all their computer programs looks like it does. Best kind of recycling an educator can do!

"My son is reading in English!"
The mother of one of my Hebrew speaking campers just made my day. For all of the past year, her child struggled with English reading. He joined us as a camper for our summer robotics program, and that's where he started coding video games. Not just during camp, but for the entire rest of the summer, at home.
The catch? All the menus, all the commands and all the logic blocks were in English. So that's we he did all summer - pushed past his limits, got comfortable with working in English characters and ultimately created a full collection of video games that he designed and coded from scratch.
And now? Next year, he'll be in the highest English group...and he'll love it.
As an educator, I get so excited when our kids make these breakthroughs. They show us again and again that our kids have amazing potential as well as the ability to conquer their own limits when they get to "learn with love."
So bring on the learning.
Bring on the new school year.
And bring on the love.

Summer Tech Camp is almost at its climax! It's been three weeks of designing robots, authoring video games and days full of wiring, building and hacking. Could not think of a more delightful group of kids and staff to share my summer!
