We are very excited to share that American Friends of Darche Noam has again received a generous grant from the Slomo and Cindy Silvian Foundation to fund a fellowship for a deserving couple to study in the Married Couples Program at Shapell’s/Darche Noam and Midreshet Rachel v’Chaya. The fellowship will cover the couple’s full tuition, half board, and partially subsidized housing in an apartment on the Shapell’s campus.
For over four decades, Shapell’s/Yeshivat Darché Noam, together with its sister seminary, Midreshet Rachel V’Chaya, have provided the perfect solution for young married couples interested in deepening their Jewish knowledge and commitment with a shared growth and learning experience in Israel. The full curriculum of each school is complemented with special programs designed to foster Shalom Bayit and prepare them to lead their families and communities. Couples also benefit from the shared Darché Noam community of peers, alumni, teachers and mentors. Dozens of graduates of the program have gone on to become rabbinic, educational, and lay leaders in their communities worldwide. In virtually every major Jewish center in North America, South America, South Africa, England and Israel these men and women are respected for their contributions to Jewish life and serve as role models and mentors. The families they raise are imbibed with the values of chesed, high ethical character and service to Am Yisrael.
The fourth Silvian Foundation Married Couples Fellowship will be awarded to a couple showing exceptional academic and leadership potential along with demonstrated commitment to their Jewish growth and the Jewish community. General information about the program is available at darchenoam.org/couples. Couples who are interested in this generous fellowship should contact Rabbi Yitz Lerner at [email protected].
The Slomo and Cindy Silvian Foundation memorializes Mr. and Mrs. Silvian of Long Beach, New York. They were well known and respected for their friendship, business leadership, civic-mindedness, and their philanthropy. Shapell’s/Darche Noam and American Friends of Darche Noam are grateful for the foundation’s support and proud to be one of the many important organizations it so generously supports.

Shapell’s/ Darche Noam and Midreshet Rachel v’Chaya are excited to announce that we are accepting applications for the 5783 David and Fela Shapell z”l Memorial Married Couples Fellowship. The fellowship is awarded to a deserving young couple for a full year of study in our schools, and includes full tuition, half board and subsidized rent in an apartment on our Yeshiva campus.
QUALIFICATIONS: The fellowship will be awarded to a Torah observant young married couple who have shown high academic accomplishments, and demonstrated leadership abilities and who have potential to be exemplary professional or lay leaders in their Jewish communities.
DESCRIPTION: For four decades the Shapell’s/Darche Noam Married Couples Program has given hundreds of young couples the spiritual, textual and philosophical foundations to build Torah homes and to substantially contribute to their Jewish communities. While at the the program:
Husbands participate in the daily program at Shapell’s/Yeshiva Darche Noam and wives in Midreshet Rachel v’Chaya. Both benefit from an expert curriculum designed to develop independence in learning traditional texts and strengthen their Torah paradigms.
In addition, there is a weekly shiur for the husbands at the Yeshiva and wives at the Seminary on topics of marriage and Shalom Bayit.
Together, the couples participate in shiurim and programs specially designed to help them in building Jewish families and prepare them for their roles they need to play as lay or professional leaders in the Torah community.
Couples have access to ongoing rabbinic guidance - a vital and fundamental aspect of building the foundations of a Torah home.
