This is because even as we transgress, God does not abandon us. Rather, he waits for us to do Teshuva.

On Yom Kippur, we come before Hashem and confess our countless sins, transgressions, and offenses.

Rabbanit Sally Mayer, Rosh Midrasha of Midreshet Lindenbaum's Overseas Program, teaches us that in addition to the importance of personal introspection and the effort to understand where we went wrong in the past year, it is also essential to focus on the good we have done. This is to draw renewed strength and empower ourselves to continue doing good.

During this past year, filled with pain and suffering, we have also witnessed much kindness, compassion, and love. We all pray that God will notice all of these when He comes to judge us, focus on the good we have done, and draw us in with a thread of kindness, from beginning to end.
