It is a complicated question on the eve of the AI era: what should we still do ourselves, and what should we leave to AI?

People have always been suspicious of technological progress. When washing machines appeared, some people were afraid that “everyone would forget how to wash clothes by hand.” When calculators became widely available, people worried that we would forget how to count.

Is AI different? Or are we facing the same old dilemma once again? And perhaps we don’t need half of the subjects we teach at school anymore?

The IB believes that one of the core pillars of education is developing open-mindedness and critical thinking.

We are happy to see our students being courageous and curious, challenging assumptions, and asking difficult questions.

Yesterday, we celebrated the 60th anniversary of one of Israel’s unique educational organizations - the Society for the Advancement of Education, of which our school is proud to be a part.

The Society runs 10 schools, seven boarding schools, and six national education projects. It brings together more than 500 people from different backgrounds who share a commitment to meaningful education and believe in its power to change lives. Its schools serve diverse communities and create opportunities for dialogue, equality, and shared life in Israeli society.

These include Reut, where religious and secular students learn together; a secular school for girls; and an Arab school village for Arab citizens of Israel. And many other schools.

The Boyar School, on whose campus Boyar International is based, was founded in the 1960s to make quality education accessible to children from both central and peripheral parts of the country. We are proud to be part of this large family being one of its youngest schools and the only one offering the IB programme.

Together, we work to expand educational opportunities for Israeli and international students!

As the new school year approaches, it is worth remembering that the IB continues to reach more countries every year!

Today, there are more than 6,200 IB World Schools operating in approximately 84% of the world’s countries. IB programmes are taught across Europe, the United States, Australia, the Middle East, and other regions.

This year, another Middle Eastern country - Bahrain, joined the IB community.

This means that students in more than 160 countries can now study within one of the world’s strongest and most academically respected educational systems!

For the third year in a row, Boyar International students have joined the three-week Genesis program at Brandeis University!

This summer our students took part in this intensive academic experience again. They attended classes five days a week and completed university-level readings, research, and assignments. The courses were developed together with Brandeis faculty and staff.

And there is more exciting news: one of our graduates, who took part in the Genesis program in a previous year, has now been accepted to Brandeis University!

Did you know that over the past ten years, the number of students taking IB examinations has grown by 40%?

This year, nearly 210,000 students from around 160 countries received their IB results, demonstrating the continued growth of the International Baccalaureate and its emergence as a global standard of international secondary education.

Why do students and their families continue to choose the IB?

There are many reasons. The IB Diploma has earned a consistently strong reputation among leading universities worldwide. But beyond academic recognition, the International Baccalaureate offers something equally important: a holistic, values-based approach to education.

Throughout the programme, students develop the skills that matter most in today’s rapidly changing world: research skills, critical thinking, the ability to evaluate and work with information, interdisciplinary thinking, independence, and intellectual curiosity.

These are not only the qualities that help students succeed at university, they are also among the competencies most sought after by employers.

According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, analytical thinking is now the most valued workplace skill, while creativity, resilience, curiosity, lifelong learning, leadership, and technological literacy are becoming increasingly important (the link is below).

Similarly, the OECD Skills Outlook 2025 concludes that future success depends not only on academic knowledge but also on adaptive problem-solving, continuous learning, and the ability to apply knowledge in an evolving world (the link is below, too).

Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the IB continues to grow year after year, preparing students not only for university, but for the challenges and opportunities of the future.

It feels like Israel has the coolest weather this summer, at least compared to the rest of Europe. Nevertheless, our students have headed to Switzerland to take part in the Switzerland Nature Exchange Program.

The program is designed to deepen
understanding of environmental protection and connect students with other passionate teenagers from around the world.
