Some things are beautiful no matter what: summer vacation, friendship, and Billie Jean.

We had a wonderful last day of school and are now heading full speed towards the summer holidays!

Our PDP and DP-1 (10th and 11th grade) students are currently hiking in northern Israel and enjoying some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes.

At one of the stops, a student from PDP, Michael, decided to relax in a stream. One of his classmates from DP-1, Katia, immediately noticed that the pose looked strikingly familiar...

Can you guess which famous painting is being recreated in these photos?

P.S. We sincerely apologize to the PDP students! Guys, of course, this was a joint trip for both the PDP and DP1 groups, not just DP1!

At the end of last week, our school held its third annual Tikkun Leil Shavuot: an evening of workshops, discussions, performances, and learning together.

Parents, students, alumni, and teachers came together to take part in a rich and inspiring program.

The evening opened with a performance of The Cherry Orchard, staged by our graduating students under the direction of Russian A teacher Anna Zinder. Since the students had graduated just a few days earlier, the performance felt especially moving. It captured something many of us were feeling how difficult it is for both students and teachers to say goodbye after spending meaningful years together.

The program also included:

* Yoga
* A fascinating lecture by our Art teacher Avi on crazy creatures in medieval Jewish manuscripts
* A charity doll-making workshop
* A discussion led by the school director Shachar Yanai on Nightmares, Dystopia, and Free Will
* A musical workshop, Music as Midrash: Bob Dylan’s Ladder
* An origami workshop

…and much more!

It is almost a pity that Shavuot comes only once a year. As the school year draws to a close, none of us are quite ready to say goodbye and head off for summer vacation. Fortunately, there are still many exciting events and experiences waiting for us before the year officially ends!

Have a peaceful week.

What an incredible night! Our second graduating class has officially “left the nest.” In the very heart of Jerusalem we celebrated the second graduation ceremony in the history of Boyar International School.

Our school is truly one big family, and the ceremony brought everyone together. Younger students prepared a touching video about how much they will miss the graduates, and alumni from last year’s class came back to celebrate with us as well.

For us, graduation is a joyful celebration with tears in our eyes. Today, as we look through the photos from yesterday, we are only beginning to realize what an extraordinary journey these three years have been, for both the students and the teachers.

This class lived through October 7 and several wars. Yet despite everything, they managed to preserve a sense of brotherhood, curiosity for learning, and openness of mind and heart.

We are going to miss you so much. Official photos from the photographer are still on the way, but for now we are sharing the moments we managed to capture ourselves.

Last week, our school visited the studios of Kan, Israel’s national public broadcasting organization, which operates television, radio, digital news, and podcasts.

It was an incredible tour and a real immersion into the world of television and radio broadcasting!

Under the guidance of journalist Yair Weinrab, we visited the music channel, the news studio, and the Arabic-language channel. We heard fascinating stories from the lives of TV and radio hosts and learned about the unique challenges and behind-the-scenes realities of working in news broadcasting.

And of course, our students even had the chance to try themselves in the role of TV presenters!

Fantastic news for our school! Our students won 3rd place in the Rabbi Sacks Essay Contest 2026! There were 87 submissions and 41 schools worldwide, most of them from the United States.

Our student Tali Morgenstern wrote an essay on Rabbi Sacks’ “Avraham’s Silence and Protest,” and another student, Nitsan Winter, wrote an essay titled “Judaism and the Modern World -Engaging Without Losing Identity.”

The Rabbi Sacks Essay Contest is a competition that encourages students to engage in a conversation between Torah and life, past and present, and Rabbi Sacks’ teachings and their own experiences.

We congratulate our students from the bottom of our hearts and invite you to read their essays, as well as the essays of the other winners!

This post has not been approved by our school director and is a complete act of staff spontaneity!

We would like to wish a happy birthday to Shachar Yanai: the creator and driving spirit of our school.

Dear Shachar! Thank you for creating an atmosphere of trust, of a big family, and of inspiration. Thank you for finding time not only to deal with education and organization, but also to personally deliver Pesach gifts to teachers during the war, when learning is online, when things feel heavy, and when your presence brings a sense of love and support.

Happy birthday!

(And thank you for the swings in our classroom: we took a photo of you putting them up!)))
