מזל טוב לרחוב שומשום שחוגג היום יום הולדת 45!
Happy birthday to Sesame Street which celebrates its 45th anniversary this week!
One of our favorite Sesame Street segments this season stars Janelle Monáe singing about "The Power of Yet!" In the song, each of the Sesame Street characters struggles with achieving a new skill: Elmo can’t get the right answer to an addition problem, Cookie Monster burns a batch of cookies, and Bert can’t remember the lyrics to a song. But, as Monáe reminds them, “everything you do, you do, you do it better, ‘cause this is what you get... with the power of yet!”
The soul/R&B singer told Billboard, “I am so excited to be living one of my dreams” by being on the classic kid’s show. She has wanted to perform on the show ever since she watched it herself as a child. The song was written especially for Monáe, and captures both her energetic performances and her appreciation for determination and perseverance. “I'm here because I am teaching everybody on 'Sesame Street' the importance and the power of 'yet,' said Monáe, "Never, ever, ever give up because there's so much power in 'yet.'”

המלצה חמה מאת סופר אהוב
Here's an incredible story for lovers of libraries -- in 1971, the city of Troy, Michigan opened a new public library and hired Marguerite Hart as their first children's librarian. In an effort to inspire the children of Troy to read, she began a letter-writing campaign to dozens of major cultural figures asking them to share what a library meant to them.
She received 97 letters in return from the likes of Dr. Seuss, Isaac Asimov, Patsy Mink, Pearl Buck, E.B. White, Neil Armstrong, Helen Gurley Brown, Neil Simon and many other icons of the 1970s. The full collection of these amazing letters, including Dr. Seuss' letter written in crayon and pictured here, can be viewed on the Troy Public Library website at http://bit.ly/1dacJtx
At A Mighty Girl, we love libraries too and have even dedicated a section of our site to Mighty Girl books starring librarians at http://www.amightygirl.com/books/personal-development/relationships?cat=264
