Dr. Rachel Arad - piano teacher
Dr. Rachel Arad is one of Haifa’s veteran piano teachers, and has experience of more than forty years teaching piano. She teaches all levels and ages, from beginner to advanced, and has prepared many students for the baccalaureate piano exams of the Ministry of Education and for entrance exams to academic institutions. Born in Haifa, Rachel is a graduate of the Academy of Music in Jerusalem, has MA in music from New York University, an MA in philosophy from Haifa University and a PhD from the Hebrew University in musicology. Her love for piano and teaching led Rachel to strive to deepen the understanding of the technical problems associated with the piano, and she continued her classes with Prof. Beni Oren and in London with Peter Feuchtwanger (who was a teacher of the famous pianist Martha Argrich when she won the first prize in the Chopin Competition, as well as many other pianists). Rachel has integrated the teaching method of Peter Feuchtwanger and vast musical knowledge Beni Oren gave her with Alexander Technique (in which she holds a teaching diploma). Rachel believes that the combination of the two provides piano students maximum technical control and freedom that allows full liberty of musical expression at the highest level. Rachel two daughters: The older, Idit Arad, is an opera singer and voice teacher who lives in London, and her young daughter Shira Arad is an actress and film editor who lives in Tel Aviv.
