Ever said something and realised you made a mistake? 😳

English has a funny idiom for this experience. When you accidentally say something that upsets or embarrasses someone else, we call it ‘putting your foot in your mouth’.

Here are some examples:

💔 Telling someone their job interview went badly when they haven’t heard back yet
🎂 Mentioning a surprise party to the main guest
😣 Forgetting you met someone and reintroducing yourself

Ever put your foot in your mouth? Tell us about it in the comments. 👟
