Yoel Levine is an experienced and highly engaging educator. His areas of interest are Jewish, Middle East and European history, classical and modern philosophy, archaeology, religious and Holocaust studies. He holds a double major BA in Modern European Studies, Religious Studies and a Minor in Philosophy, and an MA degree from the University of British Columbia with a thesis on the theological transformations of Second Temple Judaism period within the context of the Jewish-Roman wars from 66-135 CE.

Humour is an inalienable component of human beings.
Imagining the ancient peoples through the traces of humour that we can discern in the available texts, allows us to perceive them and even to interact at a certain level with them through our common humanity. But, how can we go about identifying humour in the Bible?
One possibility is: since there is no direct ‘genre’ of humour or comedy in the available texts, the best approximation we can get is by examining the “negative footprints” left on some of the texts as that which the pious prophets and wisdom writers stood against.
