What stories are hidden in old letters, photographs, and field notebooks? And what can they tell us about the women who helped shape archaeology and heritage work across the Levant and beyond? ๐Ÿ”โœจ

In Episode 11 of Learning from the Levant, Shatha Mubaideen is joined by Eman Shahin and Alice Lubbock to discuss the BIRI project Women Transcending Boundaries. Drawing on the archives of the British International Research Institutes (BIRI), the project uncovers the interconnected lives of women whose contributions to archaeology and heritage have often been overlooked.

Through personal writings, correspondence, photographs, and field notes, the conversation reveals a rich history of collaboration, knowledge exchange, and resilience that crossed borders and generations.

LEARNING FROM THE LEVANT โ€“ Episode 10

In this episode, Shatha Mubaideen speaks with Robert Bewley and Firas Bqaโ€™in about their recent field visit to newly identified Roman camps in Jordanโ€™s Eastern Desert. ๐Ÿš๐Ÿบ

Supported by the Aerial Archaeology in Jordan (AAJ) project, in collaboration with EAMENA, the discussion explores how these sites are documented, from aerial photography to ground surveys, alongside recent discoveries of pottery and architectural features. The episode also considers what these findings reveal about Roman and Nabataean presence in the region.
