It's common for bilingual children to understand a language but not speak it, a phenomenon called passive bilingualism. This often happens because they have a need to speak the majority language with peers or in school, while their second language use is limited.
Here, at The English House, we have had a lot of success with helping young children develop their skills in speaking English.
We often hear parents exclaiming '' she/he doesn't speak to me at home! How come they talk to you?''
Eventually the children start to join in at home.
New class starting in September for children aged 3, 4, and 5 year old.
Sessions are fun, interactive, reading stories, singing, games, imaginary play and other activities to encourage speaking. Numbers are limited in the class for personal attention.
