Most parents just wait. The teacher calls every day, their child is clearly miserable, school is just not working. Fortunately and unfortunately we are described as a stiff necked people. Paying for therapy is viewed as a necessity because the pain is visible, creating a healthier environment before the pain starts is always viewed as an unnecessary expense. Our Medical System is built the same way. You cannot beat biology. In order for our kids and students to truly acquire Torah wisdom they have to learn it at a rate that matches the developmental stages of their being. The majority of the unschooling process is providing structured autonomy and giving over Torah in a safe way that allows for school kids to activate these parts of their brains that are underdeveloped.

The reason why educators have stressed for the past 20 years the importance of not allowing kids to be influenced by the street is because we have outsourced education to institutions that were not designed to create feelings of safety validation and belonging. This is the job of parents. Kids who do not grow up spending the vast majority of their time with their parents have a void in there soul that causes them to feel unstable insecure and needy. If you stop sending your kids to school and start inspiring them yourself, your kids will have the confidence to either avoid the streets negative influences or create the positive change that the street environment needs.

So many kids have questions that have been suppressed. When we allow them to feel safe they access the aspects of Judaism that actually bother them, things that they have been wondering about that have been dormant for years.
