לקראת השנה החדשה אנחנו מקבלים על עצמנו להרבות בטוב. מי שבוחר לחקור בתחום המוגבלות השכלית ההתפתחותית כבר בחר לעשות טוב: לקדם ידע עבור אוכלוסייה שזקוקה לו מאוד, אך לא תמיד נמצאת במרכז אור הזרקורים המחקרי.
לפני שבוע קיימנו באוניברסיטת אריאל את תחרות קושיצקי למחקרי ביכורים במוגבלות שכלית התפתחותית, מטעם בית הספר ללימודים מתקדמים.
זכינו לארח את פרופ' חפציבה בתיה ליפשיץ מאוניברסיטת בר-אילן ואת פרופ' מאיר לוטן מאוניברסיטת אריאל, שחלקו איתנו מהידע והניסיון הרב שלהם במחקר ובקידום אנשים עם מוגבלות שכלית התפתחותית.
תודה גדולה למשפחת קושיצקי, שתרומתה אפשרה את קיומה של התחרות ואת הענקת הפרסים; לנשיא אוניברסיטת אריאל, פרופ' אהוד גרוסמן, ולגבי הרו ז"ל, סגן הנשיא לגיוס משאבים, שפעלו לגיוס התרומה ולהפיכת הרעיון למציאות.

As we approach the New Year, we renew our commitment to doing good. Those who choose to conduct research in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities have already made such a choice: to advance knowledge for a population that needs it, yet does not always receive the research attention it deserves.
A week ago, the School of Graduate Studies at Ariel University hosted the Kosh*tzki Competition for Emerging Research in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
We were honored to host Prof. Hefziba Batya Lifsh*tz of Bar-Ilan University and Prof. Meir Lotan of Ariel University, who shared with us their extensive knowledge and experience in research and in advancing the well-being and inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Our sincere thanks to the Kosh*tzki family, whose generous donation made the competition and its awards possible; to Prof. Ehud Grossman, President of Ariel University; and to the late Gabi Haro, Vice President for Resource Development, who worked to secure the donation and turn this idea into reality.
