🌱 Empowering Girls Through Food Security, Innovation & Leadership
What happens when girls are given the space to identify challenges, develop their own ideas and lead the solutions?
In Kenya, we recently launched Girls’ Clubs at Keriko and Menengai Hill Senior Schools, building on our work with schools as local innovation hubs.
The clubs are designed around one central idea: the girls lead.
Through hands-on activities, they develop skills in leadership, teamwork, entrepreneurship and project management, while our local team supports the process using Human-Centered Design and participatory approaches.
The activities connect these skills with real challenges in their communities, particularly around food security, nutrition and women-centered food practices. The girls explore locally relevant solutions, from growing and consuming iron-rich and health-supporting plants to using agroecological practices and appropriate technologies.
🌿 The goal is not only to teach new skills, but to give girls the tools and confidence to design, lead and create change in their own schools and communities.
We’re excited to see where they take it next. 💚
