What to look for in your tutors. In this order.
1. Years of experience teaching
2. An understanding of adult education. Formal or otherwise.

A formal level 3 in Education is a basic understanding of how people learn. I know plenty of amazing tutors who don't have this, but figured it out.

Even better if your tutor has both. Multiple (5+ ) years of teaching experience to a highly diverse student group.
A wide variety of ages, stules and abilities.
Plus an understanding of how to plan lessons.

There are some brilliant instructors out there, that won't necessarily make the best tutors.

Three words from our most recent reformer group. The one I keep coming back to is perspective.

Most people arrive already knowing the exercises. What changes over the weekend is not the repertoire, it is how they see it. Once you understand why the body is doing what it is doing, you never teach the same way again.

It isn’t a creativity problem. It’s that you’re planning from a blank page every time, and a blank page will always push you back towards what you already know.

So on Sunday I want to show you how I plan a sequence. Function first, because if I can send people out of the room walking better than they came in, I’ve done my job. Then flow, so the class holds together instead of being a list of exercises. Then target, so the whole thing is actually going somewhere.

Two hours. You’ll have the structure by the end of it and you’ll be able to use it on your next class.
