Founded in 1982 we have since become a world leading manufacturer and global exporter of stainless steel as well as manufacturing engineered products customised to suit projects designed by architects and consulting engineers. Our large workforce of almost 200 employees includes metal fabricators, sheet metal workers, fitters, engineers, designers as well as sales and administrative staff based in

our factory located in Ardcavan on the outskirts of Wexford town. Kent Stainless is proud to continue our partnerships with third-level institutions, providing students with 6–8 month work placements that give them valuable hands-on, real-world experience. Over the past few months, we’ve welcomed this talented group of students studying courses including Mechanical Engineering and Product Design & Technology.

One of our Product Design & Technology students Laragh shared: “During my placement, I’ve gained experience creating marketing content, developing digital models and renders, and seeing engineering and steel fabrication first-hand on the factory floor. It’s been great to explore different areas of the company, gain valuable experience linked to my course and better understand the areas of design that interest me most before my final year.”

Last Friday evening saw our annual Mick Driscoll Memorial Cup match take place, as the Office team went head-to-head with the Production Floor team.

And in a first for the competition, the Office team finally claimed the cup, coming out on top in a 7–5 victory!

As usual, there were some questionable tactics, along with plenty of good fun and friendly competition between both teams.

Our Golden Goal competition also raised funds for Man Up, a Wexford-based support group dedicated to breaking the stigma around men’s mental health and providing a safe, non-judgemental space where men can talk openly about life’s challenges.

A sincere thank you to all the players and to everyone who came along to support the teams and make the evening such a great success.

Over the past few months, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming students from Loreto Secondary School, Wexford, Coláiste Abbáin, as well as members of South East Young Engineers for site visits.

These visits are an important way for us to showcase the opportunities within manufacturing and engineering, and to give the students a real insight into career paths available in the industry.

These visits were particularly rewarding for the teachers, who had the opportunity to see their former students thriving and well settled into their apprenticeships with us.
