🌸🍃Did you know that what you pay attention to in your life is what grows in your life 🌸🌻

Inspired by a beautiful book “Thankfully me” by Louise Shanagher, our mindfulness workshop focused on gratitude and positive mindsets to help us design a garden of more of what we would like to grow in our lives. 🌸🌻✨⭐️

I’m so grateful to spend time with these children each week and watch them grow and develop positive strategies for their own well-being.

Some of the things the children want to grow more of in their lives…

“Be condifent” “kindness” “be happy everyday”
“Freedom” “loveable, nice, brave” “more time outside” 🤩🤩 Can’t we all learn from our children ⭐️⭐️?

This weeks workshop introduced a new breathing technique to children. This technique helps children focus on their breath, promotes relaxation, and can be a great tool for managing stress, anxiety, or big emotions. ⭐️✨

Pinwheel breathing is a simple and fun breathing technique designed to help children learn to regulate their breath and calm down. It’s named after the motion of a pinwheel and each child designed and constructed their own pinwheels to take home. ⭐️✨

Workshop 3 - The Inner Friend ⭐️🌈💗

The aim of this workshop was to introduce children to the concept of the inner friend with the aim to develop an inner voice that is kind, encouraging and compassionate. At around 8 or 9 years old children develop what we call “an inner critic”, a hard, harsh voice. As adults, most of us are very aware of what this inner critic sounds like when it becomes the dominant inner voice.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could help children develop “an inner friend” rather than an “inner critic” 💗 ⭐️🌈

Just listening to some of the kind words the children said their inner friend would say to them was so incredibly heartwarming, young children are embracing their inner friend and as the adults in their world we just provide a space to grow and nurture this ⭐️🥰

Workshop 2 🌈✨ ☀️The cup of sunshine ☀️

The aim of todays workshop was to encourage the children to be a good friend to themselves and others.

Children looked at ways they can fill their own cup of sunshine and ways to be kind and take care of themselves. No one can work on an empty cup. The children then explored ways they can fill up others cups of sunshine and why we wouldn’t do anything to empty others cups ⭐️✨❤️

This message from highlights the tendency to put extra pressure on ourselves and our children during this busy Christmas period, especially when we're already feeling stretched. The expectations for joy and happiness can overshadow the challenges we're managing. This great reminder encourages us to be gentle with ourselves, focus on small moments of connection, and recognise the potential for overwhelm during the next little while.
