Issues of Irish history, colonial identity and oppression will be discussed from a Traveller point of view on Wednesday, October 2nd at 4 pm in room P002 in the GMIT Castlebar Campus . The speakers are Bernard Sweeney, director of the TraVision Media Group and a long-time Traveller activist, and Dylan Foley, a Sligo-based archaeologist and historian, with a special interest in the colonial process in Ireland.

Signwriting course starting in September 2019

GMIT Mayo are launching a new one-year part-time course in Traditional Signwritng this September, taught by John Mulloy of Stick, Brush & Eye. This practical introduction to the craft of signwriting chalkboard and other hand-lettering projects is suitable for designers, tattoo artists, surfboard painters or anyone interested in hand lettering. The course will take place one morning per week, starting in September, and graduates will receive a Level 6 Special Purpose Award.

A gallery of street art from Tirana, Albania. The city was transformed from its Stalinist greyness by Edi Rama - the current prime minister - who in 2000 became Socialist Mayor of the city. Previously an artist, he immediately began promoting colour and street art into the city, making it a world-famous model of how art can change the city.
