What a wonderful day in Holy Trinity N.S. today when our amazing past pupil, Rory Brickenden, and team mate Conal Dawson came to school with the Sam Maguire cup. The whole school cheered Rory and Conal on as they arrived into the school hall this morning. They answered questions from the children in a little Q and A session and Rory went on to inspire the children with his encouraging words. He reminded them that he started off just the same as them - playing football out in the yard, and that there is nothing stopping them too from following their dreams. We are so proud of our Rory and all that he has achieved and it was a pleasure to welcome Conal to our school today too. It was such a lovely happy celebration, where we were joined by Rory's early soccer coach Pat Larkin from his Holy Trinity days, Bishop Michael Burrows and Reverend Suzanne Cousins. The children were delighted to receive a signed football and share cake together. A big thank you to Eoin Sweeney for coordinating the school visits. Westport G.A.A.

The visit was a significant moment for the school, which was keen to mark the achievement of having a player from a Church of Ireland background win an All-Ireland medal.

How lucky are we in Holy Trinity N.S. to have the lovely tradition of coming together every year and enjoying a lovely homemade Harvest Soup, made by the wonderful Ms Donaghy and her super bunch of chefs in the Senior Room. From young to old everyone shares a bowl of homemade soup together, and some even had 2 or 3 bowls 😋🥰

Well done 5th and 6th class girls who played in the Mini 7s Cumann na mBunscoil competition in Kilmeena yesterday.
You played great footbball and you had a positive attitude even when the scores didn't all go our way. We finished on a high, winning our third game out of three.
Thanks to the organisers and congratulations to Brackloon the overall winners on the day.

The children in the senior classroom are doing a community art project in association with the tennis club and guided by the artist Nicky Dowd. Old tennis balls that would otherwise go to landfill will be transformed into a work of art while exploring themes of sustainability and biodiversity, the importance of every small action and community interconnection.
If you have any old tennis balls please send them into school with your child.

Well done to Grace who bravely and brilliantly represented the school at Mayo County Cross Country Finals in Ballina last week, with her supporters team. We are immensely proud of Grace's achievement coming 29th out of a very competitive field of over 100 runners. This might be the start of a new hobby! 😉

3rd and 4th are learning about Human Environments in Geography. They are particularly focused on the People living and working in the local area.
Today we took a walk up town to see for ourselves all the different people, places, services, business etc that make up a community. We were so grateful to the many people who stopped to talk to us and tell us about their role in the community.
We have taken photos which are being categorised into places of Education, culture, business, health, safety, hospitality and tourism.
