Getting ready for my Halloween themed mindfulness class in Whitechurch NS tomorrow!
We will be focusing on the difficult feeling of worry/anxiety.
It is important to recognise that every human being experiences at least some worries. It is completely normal.
Tomorrow we will normalise this emotion & notice how it feels on a physical level in our body. By bringing awareness, we are directing the mind towards the immediate experience in the here & now & away from the tendency to fixate on thoughts or beliefs associated with that feeling.
Children will create their own worry monster who will help them to 'let go' of any worries and enable them to feel it, accept it & allow it to be as it is!

Teaching tip Tuesday!
This is my very amateur visual to help my students to identify, understand & manage their feelings. If children can learn this skill, it will positively impact their resilience & ability to cope with everyday life.
We need to 😎Name it to tame it😎
1️⃣ Name the feeling
2️⃣ Identify where in the body you are feeling it.{Second picture is a fun way to explore this step!}
3️⃣ Breathe or move......this step is unique to the child. Some kids need space, some need a hug, time on the trampoline, a chat etc.
I totally understand that as teachers we can be overwhelmed with curriculum overload but teaching our children the tools they need to become more resilient will pave their way to a brighter, happier future! ❤️

Seems such an injustice that children should suffer due to some ppls actions. 😢The guidelines are there to keep us safe..... Please please please think before you act.

I'm so looking forward to starting my mindfulness classes in Ballymacarbry.
My classes are the perfect way to empower children to become more aware, resilient and connected. It will give them the tools they need to cope with life as we know it in these unpredictable times!

Very excited to announce a 6 week mindfulness program for 8-12 year old children. This is a fantastic opportunity for children to learn new skills to help alleviate the transition back to school.

It really struck a cord with me...its the little things, the thoughtful gestures, the quick text or fone call. Being present, fully present with those that we love is the greatest gift we can get......& receive!

Today marked the last day of our workshop! The kids were just fantastic, so eager to participate & open to learning all about mindfulness. A wonderful way to start my journey into teaching mindfulness to children.
Yesterday they made their worry monsters.... A greedy little guy who just loves worries! Today we focused on emotions & made our "everything belongs" heart. We learned that all feelings are OK, even the difficult ones. Our feelings are just here to visit, they soon pass. We practiced being kind to all our feelings by welcoming them into our hearts!

....... Watch an insect, listen to the birds singing, pick blackberries, watch the sun come up (or go down!!)
Go for a walk & feel the sun on ur face, the wind in your hair. Listen to the sounds around! Just be, notice, appreciate.
