The Mayfield Birds of Prey Portlaw # is a family-run centre in , led by qualified falconer Willie and his family. It offers visitors the chance to get up close to birds of prey while learning about falconry, wildlife and conservation.

And this photo shows one of their favourite snacks… a mouse!

Birds of prey eat mice because they are a natural source of protein and other nutrients, making them an important part of their diet in the wild.

I absolutely loved being able to photograph these amazing birds up close! 📸

I’ll share a few photos from the fantastic outing we had at Mayfield Birds of Prey Portlaw in Kilmacthomas back in May 🦅📸

It was an absolutely amazing day, and I loved seeing all the different birds. I’ll be sharing some of my favourites with you - and this one definitely caught my attention because of her very sceptical look! 😀

One more photo from our trip to Kilkenny—this time, the beautiful Black Abbey!

Founded in 1225, the Black Abbey is one of the oldest Dominican foundations in Ireland and has an incredible history spanning more than 800 years. Its name comes from the black cloaks worn by the Dominican friars, who were known as the Blackfriars.

One of its most unique features is the magnificent Rosary Window, created in 1892 and considered the largest stained-glass window in Ireland.

If you’re visiting Kilkenny, the Black Abbey is definitely worth adding to your list—it’s such a unique piece of the city’s history 📸

Another interesting stop in Kilkenny City – The Butter Slip Lane 📸

This charming little laneway dates back to 1616 and connects High Street with St Kieran’s Street. Its name comes from the butter traders who once sold their produce here, as the naturally cool passageway was the perfect place for market stalls. Today, it’s one of Kilkenny’s most photographed medieval streets and a lovely reminder of the city’s rich history.

I haven’t shared any photos from our trip to Kilkenny yet, so I thought it was about time! 😊

First up is the beautiful and iconic Kilkenny Castle. Standing proudly for over 800 years, it was originally built in 1195 by the Norman lord William Marshal and has become one of Ireland’s most recognisable landmarks. Today, visitors can explore its beautifully restored rooms, stunning gardens, and parklands.

If you haven’t visited Kilkenny Castle yet, I’d highly recommend adding it to your list—it’s a wonderful place to explore, whether you love history, architecture, or photography! 📷

📸 A few weeks ago we had a fantastic photo walk in Kilkenny 📸

We spent the day exploring the medieval streets around Kilkenny Castle, capturing colourful doors, historic architecture, textures, and little hidden details throughout the city.

Our brilliant guide Nevin from Shenanigans Walks, shared plenty of fascinating stories, history, and fun facts along the way 😊

It was such a lovely mix of photography, exploring, learning, and great company — definitely a trip to remember!
