The Waterford Academy of Music & Arts (WAMA) is a music school, a stage school, an art school and a theatre, all under the one roof!
The Waterford Academy of Music & Art (WAMA) is a stage school, music school, art school and theatre all under one roof! Located just behind the garage at Passage Cross on the Dunmore Road our 8,000 sq ft state-of-the-art presmises houses what is now the premiere music and arts school in the South-East. We provide tuition for students (both adults and children) with a range of goals and skill levels, form beginner right through to NFQ Level 5, preparing them for college or university. Stage School: Drama, Contemporary Dance, Tap, Introduction To Ballet, Lyrical Dance, Voice lessons, Choir, LAMDA Exams, Dance Finess for Adults Music School: Ukelele, Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums, Voice Training, Violin/Fiddle, Cello, Mandolin, Banjo, Flute, Bodhrán, Rock Band, Drumming Band, Ukelele Orchestra, Guitar Ensemble, Choir Art School: General Art, Oils, Watercolours, Drawing, Craft Live Room Theatre: The Live Room Theatre, located in WAMA, serves as a theatrical space and a live music venue suitable for families. Under 18s are welcome, and no alcohol is served on the premises. The Live Room Theatre provides the students of WAMA with fantastic opportunities to see professional artists, both national and local, including access to live music acts that would otherwise typically perform in pubs and clubs. Not only is it a space for the pros to perform in, it's also a forum for our own students who can participate at open mics, teenage kicks, battle of the bands, recitals, plays, musicals and even play support to the professional acts. We make a student's stay with us be as comfortable, inclusive, productive, and enjoyable as possible. To achieve this we have professional premises, professionally developed syllabi's, and professional staff who have degrees, gigging experience, and teaching experience. In fact, every teacher here has a minimum of 5 years teaching experience, some with over 10 years experience. We also provide a range of performance opportunities for our students from concerts to open mics, from plays to full scale musicals, and from street theatre to outreach programmes.
Tonight would have been opening night in the Theatre Royal for the WAMA Dance & Drama dept. It was to be a jam-packed four night run, a treat that the students were really looking forward to. Today we're thinking of all the students, and all the technicians and crew that would have been working with us! We miss you all terribly. Here's a little look back at last year's show. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

A highlight for us every year is WAMA's Waterford Talent Show. Tonight would have been the big finale in the Theatre Royal where the finalists would have strutted their stuff and been giants for a night. It wasn't to be this year, but we'll appreciate it all the more when it comes back in May 2021. Here's a few memories from last years show: (photography by DigiCol Photography and Media Productions)
Remembering fondly back to when Jack Lukeman opened our Live Room Theatre for us in 2014, and the whopper of a gig he did there that night. Might be a while before we get to put on gigs again, but when we do we'll make it special, and who knows, we might even ask Jack to come back for our relaunch! 🤘
Thinking of our secondary school aged students at the moment who are studying at home and are busy completing projects and assessments before the end of year. Almost there guys, just a couple of weeks to go until you're done for the summer! 🌞.
🎭 Looking forward to this tonight, not to be missed folks! 🎭
So - after an absolutely epic night we're halfway through our livestreams season. Next week - back to where we started with a new evening of songs from the shows all from the stages of the Theatre Royal and Garter Lane... it's our Virtual Theatre Show - Part 2 (because I couldn't think of a better name for it!)... and it's completely different to the first one - there's some rare ones (and 'quare wans') in there... streaming this Sunday 8pm on YouTube and we're back on Facebook Live this week... one showing and then it's gone - see you Sunday.
Thinking back with fond memories on 2015 when I directed Bugsy Malone. ❤️ The cast had a ball doing that show! They particularly enjoyed destroying me with splurge after the final performance! 😂 Trevor
Here's a composition by one of our very talented piano teachers, Pat O'Connor. He wrote this originally for his partner, and then was kind enough to record it and write out the sheet music for our students.
The link below leads to a Google drive folder where you can download the sheet music in two different keys and a seperate link to the audio. It would be great if some of our piano students took a shot at learning the piece and posting their own video!

It's my better half's birthday today so I'm posting a little piece I wrote for her. This is hopefully the first of many score videos as I continue to slowly learn basic editing 😋. Any likes, shares, comments etc are very welcome and I hope it brightens your Saturday afternoon a little!
Remembering the cast and crew of Blood Brothers who performed in our Live Room Theatre back in November 2015. The standing ovation they got was well deserved!
They put on an amazing show. Laughter and tears filled the theatre throughout an outstanding performance. A big well done to the senior WAMA drama students under the direction of Pat Grant.

So we are postponing all lessons as of now and for the next two weeks. Be good to each other and stay healthy. See you soon.
P.S. We have attempted to send a text to you all but we believe the mobile phone networks are currently down.
