A special moment for our 6th Year boarders as they gathered together for their last lunch before finishing their Leaving Certificate exams. 💙

With only a couple of days left, there is a mix of excitement, reflection and anticipation as they prepare to complete this important chapter of their school journey.

We are so proud of everything they have achieved and the friendships, memories and experiences they have shared as part of our boarding community.

🌍 Erasmus+ Staff Mobility: Learning Without Borders 🇪🇺✨

Erasmus+ mobilities give school staff the opportunity to engage in creative learning experiences with colleagues from across Europe — sharing good practice, exchanging ideas, and learning from different cultures and educational approaches.

Recently, Ms Keogh spent a week in Sweden alongside teachers from Belgium, France, Spain, Croatia, Cyprus, Germany and Greece. Under the guidance of staff from Europass Teacher Academy, the group explored different models and methods to support wellbeing in schools.

During her visit, Ms Keogh also reconnected with Teresia, a teacher from Stockholm whom our school first met in Finland, and visited her school to explore opportunities for future collaboration and shared projects.

The impact of Erasmus+ reaches far beyond the mobility itself — creating lasting friendships, professional connections, and opportunities for both students and teachers across Europe.

🇮🇪✈️🇫🇷 Congratulations to Lucia, who finished Transition Year and then immediately headed off to spend two weeks attending classes at the Hector Berlioz School in Vincennes, Paris, as part of her Erasmus+ Short-Term Mobility programme.

Lucia is the first Newtown student to attend this school, continuing and strengthening the cooperation between our two schools. This partnership began through an eTwinning project, and this year we were delighted to both host students from Vincennes and send one of our own in return.

We look forward to hearing all about Lucia’s journey, her discoveries, and her reflections on this exciting international experience.

A huge thank you to Berengere and Lelia, whose professionalism, guidance, and support helped make this mobility such a positive experience.

We are also grateful to Leargas and Erasmus+ for providing our students with these wonderful opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with young people across Europe.

🏃‍♂️🏅 Congratulations to Liam Walsh and Declan Vandi, who proudly represented Newtown School at the All-Ireland Schools Track & Field Championships on Saturday, 30th May.

Thank you to Alina and Annmarie who attended the Erasmus+ Project Management Day in Athlone during the week. 🇪🇺

The training delivered by Ireland’s National Agency provided valuable insight into managing Erasmus+ grant funding, recording mobilities, sharing best practice, and effectively disseminating project results. We are delighted to have secured Erasmus+ funding once again for next year and are very grateful to the Leargas team for their continued guidance and support throughout our journey.

Participation in Erasmus+ continues to enrich our whole school community by supporting students and staff in their lifelong learning journey, while building meaningful connections and partnerships across Europe. 🌍✨
