Over the past few weeks, our Jobseekers Digital Skills and Employment Readiness programme has been helping participants build the confidence and skills needed to navigate todayβs job market.
Together we explored everything from setting up job search accounts and improving online safety to creating tailored CVs, writing cover letters, and completing job applications. Participants learned how to organise files and folders, manage documents, send professional emails, attach CVs, and use job websites effectively when searching for opportunities.
One area that generated a lot of interest was the use of AI. We looked at how AI can help tailor CVs and generate personal profiles and cover letters, while also discussing its limitations and the importance of adding your own experience and personality. Participants practiced using job descriptions to create customised applications and learned how to save different versions of their CVs for specific roles.
We also spent time identifying personal strengths, transferable skills, and career interests through aptitude testing and skills assessments. There were some fantastic group discussions around interviews, workplace equality, disability disclosure, and understanding what employers can and cannot ask during the recruitment process.
The group worked hard throughout the programme, supporting one another while developing practical digital and employment skills that will help them on their job-seeking journey. It was wonderful to see confidence grow week by week as participants became more comfortable using technology and taking the next steps towards employment.
A huge well done to everyone who took part. It was a pleasure to work with such an enthusiastic group, and we wish them every success in their future job searches and career goals.
