Our Summer BEES (Boosting educational and emotional skills) is a ‘kind of’ book club type event where children choose reading materials that interest and inspire them-they will read aloud daily, develop comprehension, listening and writing skills through fun activities such as designing a new cover for their favourite story, role-playing book characters or writing and animating their own picture book. They will also have a fun, daily maths challenge-riddle type questions will be given for children to develop problem solving skills. This programme is suitable for children who have completed Senior Infants to those going into 6th. An interesting alternative to traditional summer camp for children who enjoy or would like to enjoy reading, to meet new people in a non competitive or pressurised setting. No academics, just fun learning at your child’s interest and level!

Part One of our medieval swords and shields kicked off on Friday with the pre-pairing stage….well actually it began well before with the design and manufacture of these incredible pieces, each of which is unique. Children choose their favourite and took to work painting. Can’t wait to see how these turn out. This will definitely be an activity we do again; with each child bringing home a bespoke set of sword and shield, we’ll have lots of happy knights! 🐝

So today we explored the mediums of fabric and fibre using recycled materials in Craft Friday….my yummy lunch from provided the perfect plastic ring frame for a dream catcher. It was a finicky process, but as usual these children rose to the challenge to make unique and wonderful pieces to keep the bad dreams at bay! 🛌 Thanks for for providing the inspiration 🌟
