Installed "Daring to Fly" at the Waterford City Library yesterday, all ready for the launch of Refugee week on Monday.

Daring to Fly represents the courageous journeys we all face in life whether they be emotional or physical, transformative or redemptive.

The people that took part in this community art project are representative of our multicultural, creative and welcoming city, coming from as far away as Ethiopia and Afghanistan and as close as the next street.

There were almost two dozen women involved in the creative process of making these birds, including participants, organisers and art facilitator. The Waterford Gallery of Art provided the safe space for creation and communication and the organisers, Bróna Walsh and Gabriela Burnett of Buíon Phort Láirge and Jane Fraher of the Women’s Shed, made sure everyone was comfortable and welcome for the day’s creative work.

May we be kind and supportive of each other in this life, as we are all in this together.

So, what's been going on? Why the radio silence?? Well, I've been getting the Waterford Creatives Network up and running (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1237648847747352).

So far the network has had two monthly traveling salon meetings, the first in Waterford Gallery Of Art, the second in Lismore Heritage Centre and the third will be in Ardmore's community hall on Saturday 23rd May at 11am.

You can find out more about the network here:
https://www.waterfordcreativesnetwork.ie/
and here: https://www.instagram.com/waterfordcreativesnetwork/

We have a WhatsApp group for members, if you'd like to join, you must be living or working in Waterford city or county and you must be a student, emerging or professional creative of some description. Please DM me your mobile to join up.

I'll have more personal updates on my own art projects soon.

Fantastic culture night in Waterford Cultural Quarter, the ceramics workshop went really well, over 55 tiles completed by the public. Lots of lovely positive feedback.

A big thank you to Waterford Gallery of Art for having me as an emerging visual artist and also to the wonderful staff and volunteers that made the night a great success at the Community and Cultural Hub.
