Two Irish projects have been shortlisted for the ESF+ Social Innovation Awards 2026 — and voting closes tomorrow!

👏 Ballyhoura Development CLG ’s Breakthrough Pilot supported through SICAP, is one of just 31 projects shortlisted from 11 EU countries.

The project provides tailored, person-centred support to individuals and families facing complex challenges, helping people build confidence, self-advocacy and independence.

Also shortlisted is Rural Revive, an initiative of Monaghan Integrated Development CLG and Cavan County Local Development, supporting people aged 45+ experiencing long-term unemployment in rural communities.

🗳️ Public voting closes Thursday, 20 August.

Voters are asked to select three projects.

Two Irish 🇮🇪 projects are competing for recognition at the 🇪🇺 𝗘𝗦𝗙+ 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 and they need your vote!

Among 31 shortlisted projects from 11 EU countries, two Irish initiatives have made the final shortlist:

- 𝗥𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗲, an initiative of Monaghan Integrated Development CLG and Cavan County Local Development, supports adults aged 45+ experiencing long-term unemployment in rural communities across Ireland and Greece, creating pathways back to employment, confidence and social inclusion.

- 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁 from Ballyhoura Development CLG provides tailored, person-centred coaching to individuals and families facing complex challenges, helping participants build confidence, strengthen self-advocacy skills and take greater control of their futures.

These projects demonstrate the power of community-led innovation to address complex social challenges and create lasting positive change. They also demonstrate Ireland holding its own among a large field of EU projects.

This morning, Future in Perspective attended an online meeting for the InclusiVR@Work project.

InclusiVR@Work aims to bridge the employability gap for people with disabilities in European workplaces by fostering understanding, empathy, and reasonable accommodation.
Utilising Virtual Reality (VR) technology, the project offers immersive simulations to help HR managers, business owners, and vocational education and training (VET) professionals experience the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.

We are travelling to Dresden next week to attend the final TPM and conference for this lovely project, alongside other partner organisations.

🌿 Another productive partner meeting for the (Re)Natured Cities project!

Today, our consortium came together online to review the progress of the project and plan the next stages of our work.

During the meeting, we discussed the development of the project's technical modules and accompanying infographics, which will provide practical guidance to support more sustainable management of urban green and blue spaces.

We also looked ahead to our upcoming Learning, Teaching and Training Activity (LTTA), taking place at the end of October in Vejle, Denmark. During the LTTA, environmental experts from each partner country will present examples of successful renaturalisation practices from their local contexts, creating an opportunity to exchange knowledge, share experiences and inspire new approaches across Europe.

We're looking forward to the next phase of the project and continuing our collaboration to support greener, more resilient cities. 🌱
