Why Cairdeas Matters:
Cairdeas, meaning “friendship” in Irish, embodies our commitment to building a nurturing environment for our children. By joining this group, you play a vital role in strengthening our school community, sharing ideas, and fostering friendships that enrich our children’s educational experience.

The Impact of Your Involvement:
Through our fundraising efforts, we directly support essential resources and activities for our school. Contributions from the Cairdeas Group help fund:

• Purchasing PM readers: Enhancing literacy and learning for our students.

• Classroom supplies: Providing teachers with the tools they need to create engaging lessons.

• School activities and events: Enriching our children’s educational journey through extracurricular programs, workshops, and community events.

A Call for New Leadership:
As we begin this new term, we also acknowledge the transition of our current chairpersons and secretary, whose terms are coming to an end. With families moving on, our membership numbers have decreased, highlighting the importance of welcoming new members to join the Cairdeas Group. We are looking for volunteers to step into these vital roles and help shape the future of our association.

Your participation is crucial—not just for the success of our fundraising efforts but for ensuring that our school community remains vibrant and supportive. Together, we can create memorable experiences and a nurturing environment for our children to thrive.

A huge thanks to their families as well who have not only supported their children over the last eight plus years, but also supported the school. It takes a village to raise a child but ye are undoubtedly the centre of that village. Another 8 families said goodbye to Knockavilla this week, with their last child graduating 🏡📚🌞

✨ School Year 2025/26 – What a Year! ✨

As another wonderful school year comes to a close, we look back on so many special memories made together. From our 5km Fun Run, Halloween Walk and Christmas Concert, to drama classes, Sciath na Scol, Scór, Cork City Sports and our ever-popular Athletic Evening, it has been a year full of fun, achievement and community spirit.

A huge highlight was our fundraising efforts for the new astro pitch on the hill. Thanks to your incredible support, both our First Goal Scratch Cards and Ball Run fundraiser were a tremendous success. We look forward to sharing details of our next fundraiser very soon!

Most importantly, thank you to our pupils, staff, parents and wider community for making this year so memorable.

To the Class of 2026, we wish you every success and happiness as you begin your next adventure in secondary school. We are so proud of you and hope you leave with memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. 💙

Have a wonderful summer everyone! ☀️

📚✨ We are delighted to shine a spotlight on A Snowy Sleep – A Tale of Hibernation by parent and local author Jess Lynch.

Publishing in Autumn 2026, this beautifully written story follows a dormouse, red squirrel, hedgehog, long-eared bat, and brown-lipped snail as they prepare for their long winter rest. Lovingly told in verse and beautifully illustrated by Monika Pollak, it is a cosy celebration of nature's rhythms and the quiet wonder of the winter months.

Perfect for children aged 4–7 years, A Snowy Sleep introduces young readers to Ireland's native wildlife through a heartwarming tale of frost, snowfall, and hibernation.

We are incredibly proud to have such a talented author within our school community and wish Jess every success with the launch of her wonderful book. ❄️🦔📖
