As they say all good things must come to an end. After 26 wonderful years teaching at Loughfouder NS, 10 of which I spent as principal and a teaching career spanning 39 years, it was time for me to say a fond farewell to everyone at the school this week. I look back on my time there with great memories, immense joy and pride on a job well done. It has been so rewarding seeing the pupils learning and growing each year and seeing the school going from strength to strength. Thanks to the amazing staff, Miss O'Shea, Josephine Murphy, Noreen Daly and Miss O Neill who organized a lovely send off for me. There was a retirement mass celebrated by Fr. Gerard O Leary with pupils and staff. Then in the afternoon there was a lovely gathering of family, friends, parents, past parents and pupils, local teachers, retired teachers and members of the community. There was fabulous food donated by parents, a few speeches, a slideshow of memorable moments from my career and finally some musical entertainment from Denis & Byron Collins, Nicky and Ann McAuliffe and Emer & Liam O Shea. Thanks to everyone who made it all possible especially to Linda, Noreen and Noel who captured some very special moments on camera. As I hand on the baton to Miss O Shea, the new principal, I wish her the very best of luck. She is a dedicated and talented teacher and I know that the school is in safe hands with her. I have really enjoyed keeping you all up to date on what was happening in Loughfouder NS on this page over the past ten years and I look forward to following its activities and achievements from the sideline long into the future! Míle Buíochas go léir!! Liz Lane 💕💕
