🐝 Our Annual Bee Surveys continue for 2026! 🐝 We’re excited to continue our season of Bee Surveys at Tralee Bay Wetlands Ecology Park! 🌿

📅 Next Survey: Wednesday, 9th September
⏰ Time: 3:30pm – 4:30pm

Join Alan as we explore the world of bees, learn about the native wildflowers they depend on, and discover different bumblebee species. 🌸🔍 We’ll search, record and submit our findings to Biodiversity Ireland, helping to protect these vital pollinators.

This is a great event if you’re interested in learning how to identify and record bees, even in your own garden! 🌼🏡

If your child is experiencing bullying — or you simply want to feel better prepared if concerns arise — NPC’s **free online Anti-Bullying Information Sessions for parents of primary school children** offer practical information and support.

The sessions will explore:

🏫 Communicating effectively with your child’s school when concerns arise
🤝 Working in partnership with the school
❤️ Supporting kindness, inclusion and respectful behaviour
🌱 Helping your child develop confidence and resilience

Each year, the Irish Second-Level Students’ Union (ISSU), Institute of Guidance Counsellors (IGC), National Parents Council (NPC) and Department of Education and Youth work together to provide the National Parents and Students Leaving Certificate Helpline.

The Helpline opens on Leaving Certificate Results Day – Friday 21 August and is staffed by professional and experienced guidance counsellors.

Students and parents can get practical information and support on:

🎮 𝗢𝗡𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡’𝗧 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗦

For many children and teenagers, gaming is a huge part of their social life.

They play with friends, talk while they game and meet other players online.

But do you know who your child is actually talking to?

Not everyone they meet through a game will necessarily be someone they know in real life — and people online are not always who they say they are.

That doesn’t mean parents need to panic or stand over every game.

It does mean keeping the conversation open.

🎧 Ask who they regularly play and chat with
👤 Find out whether they talk to people they don’t know offline
🚩 Be alert if someone asks them to move the conversation to another app or keep something secret
🔒 Check privacy, messaging and friend settings together
💬 Most importantly, make sure your child knows they can tell you if something feels wrong — without automatically losing access to their game or getting into trouble

That last point matters.

If a young person thinks telling a parent will immediately mean losing their phone, console or game, they may be less likely to speak up when something uncomfortable happens.

A calm conversation now can make it much easier for them to come to you later.

• Encouraging practical skills like managing lunchboxes, coats and belongings
• Strengthening the connection between home, Early Years settings and school
