IMPLEMENTING A TRAUMA-INFORMED APPROACH IN SCHOOLS | ONE-DAY FACE-TO-FACE TRAINING

Tralee Education Support Centre, in collaboration with the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS), is delighted to invite Expressions of Interest from local primary schools for this valuable professional learning opportunity on Tuesday, 10th November 2026.

This practical training day will support teachers and school leaders in developing a deeper understanding of trauma-informed practice and exploring effective, school-based strategies to promote safety, connection, belonging and inclusion for all pupils.

📅 Date: Tuesday, 10th November 2026

🕘 Time: 9.30am – 3.30pm

📍 Venue: Tralee Education Support Centre, V92 HK52

👩‍🏫 Audience: Primary School Teachers

✅ Full Substitute Cover Provided

WHAT WILL THE TRAINING COVER?

Participants will explore the impact of trauma and adversity on children’s learning, behaviour and wellbeing, alongside practical approaches to implementing trauma-informed practice at whole-school, classroom and individual pupil level.

The training will focus on creating safe, supportive learning environments and equipping teachers with strategies that can be implemented directly in their schools.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SCHOOLS

▪️ A maximum of two teachers per school may attend.
▪️ One participant must be a member of the School Leadership Team.
▪️ Expressions of Interest must be submitted jointly by both teachers.
▪️ Open to DEIS and non-DEIS primary schools.
▪️ A separate training event will be available for DEIS Plus schools.
▪️ Places are limited, and submitting an Expression of Interest does not guarantee a place.

ESSENTIAL PRE-COURSE REQUIREMENT

All participants must complete the NEPS eLearning course Introducing a Trauma Informed Approach: The Stress Factor – Getting the Balance Right before attending.
