Huge congratulations to the students, staff, school community and collaborating creative practitioner from St Catherine's Special School, County Wicklow who launched their fantastic 'Together We Flow' Art exhibition last night in Wicklow Library👏

St Catherine's Special School who previously participated in our 'I Am Creative' initiative are currently displaying their collection of aquatic artworks created by their senior pupils, all inspired by the theme of 'Water'. Students used recycled materials and collaborated with creative practitioner Susie Fortune using clay to create their spectacular pieces of art🌟

The 'Together We Flow' Art exhibition is now open until 24th October for all to visit and enjoy these fantastic works😊👏

✨ Creative Connections(CCo) – Professional Learning Event | Athlone | 28–29 September 2026 ✨

Creative Connections had the pleasure of bringing our new schools, teachers and creative practitioners together for two days of learning, connection and creativity. Over the two days, new partnerships were formed, relationships began to grow and creativity was flowing!

We began CCo 2026/27 online with young people and their ideas and feedback was brought to Athlone to begin the residency and cluster process.

Our cluster groups had the opportunity to meet in person for the first time following their online Connecting Day earlier in the month. It was wonderful to see the groups come together, share ideas and begin building the relationships that will underpin their work throughout the year. A special thanks to our Design Team and CCo participants for bringing their endless enthusiasm, energy and fun to the event.

'Play in a Day' provides an opportunity for a teacher and a professional drama facilitator to:

●Collaborate, co-design and co-facilitate a one-day practical drama workshop with a class of junior cycle students
●Incorporate student voice and choice to inform the design process
●Guide students through a collaborative and creative process, culminating in a devised play.

✨ Your Gallery at School and in your Community 2026/27✨

The National Gallery of Ireland is inviting schools and educational settings across Ireland to apply for a unique opportunity to bring the national collection into classrooms.
Successful groups will work with an artist facilitator to develop a bespoke, artist-led project inspired by the national collection and their local area. Chosen schools will be paired with an artist facilitator who will travel your location and facilitate special tailored inclusive workshops.

✨ Open to primary and secondary schools, special education schools and alternative education settings
🧑‍🎨 Work with a professional artist on a co-created project
🖼️ Engage with the National Gallery’s national collection
🎨 Tailored art-making workshops and materials provided
🇮🇪 Available nationwide
📅 Closing date: 23 October 2026 at 11.59pm

Applications are open to settings working with children and young people under 18, with particular encouragement for those working with communities experiencing educational disadvantage or other barriers.

The Arts in Education Portal team are seeking submissions for presentations and creative workshops for the National Portal Day which will take place at TU Dublin School of Art and Design on Saturday 7 November 2026.

This year's theme, ✨ The Future is Creative: Why arts and creativity in education matter more than ever ✨.

As we navigate a world shaped by rapid technological change, climate challenges, evolving communities, and new ways of learning and connecting, human creativity has never been more important.

The Arts in Education Portal team invite artists, creative practitioners, teachers, educators, academics and arts in education professionals to share presentations or creative workshops.

With particular interest in projects and practices that explore:
● Arts in education in the age of AI and emerging technologies
● Arts based approaches to connect with nature, climate action and sustainability
