Census Connections Census Connections provides a view into the communities and day-to-day lives of our ancestors using the historical census returns of 1901 and 1911.

We take the census records from 1901 & 1911 & build a picture of the community in which our ancestors lived. At the moment only the areas of Blarney, Matehy & Dripsey have been included but we are working on expanding this.

Delighted to say a short book on the history of St. Ann's Hill Hydro that I co-wrote with Ronan Foley has now been published.

It can be ordered online from Four Courts Press

https://www.fourcourtspress.ie/books/2026/irelands-first-sanitorium

And it will also be available to buy from bookshops from the 21st August.

Some copies are available locally in Supervalu Tower and John O'Leary in Cloghroe.

This is only a short account of the Hydro, there is much more history to be told yet!!

An advert from the Freeman's Journal in 1893.
Norah O'Sullivan, from St. Ann's Hill, looking for any information on her brothers who emigrated to Australia nearly fifty years previously, I wonder did she ever hear of them?
