was founded in 1816 by William and Thomas Cahill. The composite monastery and school was situated in what was then known as Pudding Lane. It catered for both primary and secondary pupils and the School has a long standing academic reputation. In 1979 a spacious new secondary school was opened. Calling all Parents/Guardians please donate any uniform items your son has outgrown or no longer requires once washed and in reasonable condition. We hope to have a ‘Resale’ morning in early August to recycle items. Items can be donated at the School Reception up until Monday the 22nd of June. All proceeds will go to fund Student facilities/initiatives for the 2026-2027 school year.

On Wednesday the 20th of May we held our annual Awards Night to celebrate and recognise our students achievements during the year. Our awards fall under a number of different categories, Academic, Sporting, Spirit of Edmund Rice, Excellent Attendence and Outstanding Personal Achievement. Then we have our main Awards, Junior Student of the year, Sportsperson of the year and the main honour Student of the Year, Kindly sponsored by Premier Credit Union. On the night we had guest speaker Kieran Morris, past pupil, Harty and Croke cup winner. Kieran is the Chief Commercial Officer with H&MV and he gave great insight and advice to all in attendance. H&MV also sponsored the Enterprise and Innovation Award. The night like any event we have in CBS Thurles was polished off with the amazing music of the music department, who again showcased the great talent we have here in our school. Other important awards sponsored on the night were the Junior and Senior Art s Awards (Stakelums Office supplies), Senior Construction (Ronaynes) Junior Wood Tech (Centenary Thurles Coop). The Parents council and the Board of management sponsored the creative writing and the Junior and Leaving Cert 2025 best results. Well done to all. Full photo album to follow on Facebook.

Congratulations to Toby Corbett, our Senior Student of the year 2026, kindly sponsored by Premier Credit Union, Thurles. Toby is pictured in the Credit Union with staff members receiving the award. On the night he received the award from Mary O'Dwyer, chairperson of the Board of Management in the school. He is also pictured with his parents, Eddie and Noelette.
