What an EPIC day, last Friday!!!

We have been running the Leugh NS Show Jumping Competition for a few years, and we FINALLY won our own plaque in the Teams competitiom 🤣

We cannot thank the pupils of our own school, and other schools from as far afield as Kildare, for the phenomenal show of talent, sport and skill!

We must also mention the loyalty and bravery of the four-legged superstars.... the ponies ❤️❤️❤️

Huge congrats to our own pupils who took part - Hollie, Amelia, Faye, Jennifer, Sam, Philip, Molly and Doireann..... from 6th class to Junior Infants - the future of equestrianism is safe in Leugh NS!!!

Many thanks to Cáit and Yasmine at Cashel Equestrian Centre for the terrific facilities!

Today we took the opportunity to further our knowledge on our local history.... we began in earnest last September with a study on the Cormack Brothers of KilKillahara, and today we went to their Mausoleum to pay our respects.

We cycled to Loughmore and met with Timmy Delaney, retired Principal of St. Michael's, Holycross.

Timmy brought the historic tale to life with some of the finer and more human details of the tragic affair.

We then explored the ruins of a 13th century Abbey beside the church - the children impressions on graves where writing was no longer made legible - we found one from 1725!

From there, we strolled down to The Cottage for treats and stories beside the fireplace - the way previous generations would have learned their history!

The children were enthralled.... especially when the stories took a ghostly turn 👀

After that, we visited the ruins of Loughmore Castle and cycled back to school. We had a great day (also parents - ye are welcome...6th class will sleep tonight... t'was up-hill a lot of the way home)!!!

Timmy, we cannot thank you enough for your time and your knowledge! We are so grateful!

MASSIVE thank you to Kevin and St Angela's Academy of Music for a terrific term of Ukelele, Violin and Flute lessons! As you can see, the joy is evident. Again, thank you Sinead Ni Riain for all the hard work fundraising for instruments!

We will be taking part in a FREE concert in Thurles on Sunday 7th June with and many more.

Massive thank you to this gang for giving up their Saturday to sing in the choir for the First Holy Communion - they sounded stunning!

So we had a little day out as a treat to say thanks! A picnic in Templemore Park.

Huge thank you also to Janet and Avril, who made the picnic.... for 33 children! No mean feat!!!

SAVE THE DATE!!!
