We have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s ICT in Education Conference, which was scheduled to take place on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th October.
Unfortunately, the number of registered attendees is too low to allow us to deliver the kind of meaningful and engaging event that participants have come to expect. Given this, we believe the best decision is to cancel the conference for now.
The environment in which we operate has changed significantly over the more than 20 years that we have been running this event. Teacher Professional Development has evolved considerably, and the widespread shift to online and hybrid learning, accelerated by Covid, has inevitably affected in-person events like ours. Likewise, Technology-Enhanced Teaching and Learning and Computer Science education in Ireland have transformed over the years. These changes have left us in a bit of a quandary on how to progress, so, for now we take a step back and consider how best to proceed.
As a final thought: events like ours, which bring together teachers from across the broad spectrum of education in Ireland, play an important role. They provide opportunities to learn with and from each other, and are key to creating supportive, engaging learning environments for our students. As a team we would like to come back with a more relevant offering if that is of interest to educators, and to that end we will be in touch in the coming weeks to explore what that might look like. In the meantime please feel free to contact me at pamela....ie if you have any thoughts or suggestions.

The ICT in Education conference takes place on Saturday 18th October on the Thurles campus of the Technological University of the Shannon. This year we celebrate our 21st birthday and we would love for you to join us. Our theme is Lifespan Learning and to reflect this we have presentations throughout the day from educators across the spectrum from early years through primary, secondary, third level and further education.
Due to unforeseen circumstances Pam Moran and Ira Socol will no longer be available to deliver the keynote presentation as previously announced, however we are delighted to have Dr Leigh Graves Wolf step in. Leigh’s keynote will pick up on the themes previously put forward by Pam and Ira on the topic of “Sustaining Humanity in an Artificial Intelligence World”. Leigh will also share perspectives on the topic of “The Portrait of a Graduate” during a panel discussion with Ashling Sheehan Boyle, Mark Delahunty and Lorraine Hickey facilitated by Dr Conor Galvin.
This year we are including a PhDMeet on Friday 17th October from 2 – 4.30pm. This session is aimed at doctoral students and we have some slots still available so if you are interested in sharing your research to date please add your details at https://ictedu.ie/conference-25/research-symposium/.
We also have a STEAM evening on the evening of Friday 17th from 7 – 9 pm. This is an informal session where attendees will learn in a fun and engaging way through maker-based learning. If you have an activity to share let us know at https://ictedu.ie/conference-25/submissions-2025/.
You can find further details of the conference including the schedule, speaker information and booking for the PhDMeet, the STEAM evening and the conference at https://ictedu.ie/.
