recently presented their new Lisa X 3D printer during a DASBE partner meeting held at the Galway campus.
The Lisa X 3D printer, which employs Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) technology, is being introduced into the Department of Building and Civil Engineering at Atlantic Technological University (ATU).
This state-of-the-art printer enables the production of highly detailed, durable components by fusing powdered materials with a laser, making it particularly suitable for architectural and engineering applications.
As part of its integration into the curriculum, the printer will be used to develop Reusable Learning Objects (RLOs)โinteractive, physical models that represent complex geometries found in building components. These models will serve as tangible aids to help students visualize and understand intricate design features and spatial relationships that are often difficult to grasp through traditional 2D drawings or digital simulations.
DASBE looks forward to receiving updates on this technology and its applications in education.
