Patrice has four children who attend Hondji Primary School in . Unfortunately, he doesn’t have permanent work, but he spends some of his time helping the school by maintaining the grounds.

“It would be a disaster without Mary’s Meals. The children wouldn’t come to school and instead [would have to] go to work and find food.

“But with Mary’s Meals, the children can come to school to eat and learn. And parents can worry less about hunger.”

Lawoe, 16, attends Calvery Baptist School in Liberia. He sheds light on the importance of the school feeding programme and how the daily meals he receives have had a crucial impact on his health and education:

"I have been eating Mary’s Meals for four years now and it is continuing to help me be healthy and strong.

"The food is very nourishing and sweet. My stomach is filled when I eat the meal, and once I head home for the day, I remain full.

"If Mary’s Meals were not being served here, I would never have been able to come to school, because my parents don’t have the means to give me lunch money."

For many of the children who receive Mary's Meals, the meal they receive from our programme might be the only food they have that day.

Supporting our school feeding programme has a positive impact on students as well as helping to ease some of the worry felt by parents who are struggling to put meals on the table at home. Lawoe's parents can count on us to provide their son with a much-needed meal every school day, giving him an incentive to attend school and the energy to learn.
