Rathfeigh National School

Rathfeigh National School Supporting the parents and children of Rathfeigh National School Some of you may not know about the Parents' Association or what we do.

One of our aims is to fundraise for the school, funds which will benefit our children and ourselves as parents / guardians. Funds raised for the school last year went towards the Literacy Lift Off Reading Programme, new Maths books, buses to School Tours – lessening these costs to parents. For this reason we would ask you as a parent / guardian to help support us support the school for the benefit

of our children and their education. We have big plans for the coming year and need your support to give our children the best opportunities and keep up to date and inline with the bigger schools. We will be coming to you as parents and guardians for your ideas and to see where your preferences lie in regards to extra curricular activities which can be supplemented by the Parents' Association. We want our kids to learn in an exciting environment with every opportunity open to them. We will be looking into buying more sports equipment, Science and technology and exploring music, arts and languages as options for our children. We are also there to act as a liaison between parents and the school with any school related issues. Names of all the committee members will be posted soon. We looking forward to working together over the coming years.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Admissions for September 2026

January 16th is the closing date for receipt of Enrolment Forms for admissions to Junior Infants for September 2026. Please send in an Enrolment Form as soon as possible if your child is starting school next year.

Christmas Annuals

Christmas wouldn't be complete without the most exciting delivery of the school year, the arrival of the Folens Christmas annuals. Súgradh, Spraoi, Siamsa, and Sonas have been gracing classrooms for over 50 years now, providing endless entertainment for children and quiet moments for grateful parents every December. Most of us remember the Christmas annuals when we were in school and I think it’s lovely to see the children of 2025 still excited about receiving them with numerous distractions like mobile phones etc in our society.

The children in all classes will be receiving the annuals this week which are free as a result of the proceeds from the “Re-Turn” initiative which we introduced to the school last year. We thank everyone who has returned bottles/cans over the last year or so and to the families that have returned the bottles to the shops.

Christmas Carol Service

Our annual Christmas Carol service takes place in the school hall on Friday December 19th at 11am and we hope to see a large attendance like previous years. This will be followed at 11.30am approximately by the Parents’ Association Christmas Raffle. This is an important fundraiser for the school so please make every effort to sell the books of tickets which each family will be receiving this week. The tickets are €2 per ticket or a book of 6 tickets for €10. The prizes are excellent again this year and we thank everyone for sponsoring the prizes.

Christmas Carol Singing Fundraiser

Please keep December 21st free as the Parents’ Association Carol Singing Fundraiser in Navan Shopping Centre takes place. We will need everyone to play their part for this festive event – singing or supporting our singers on the day. Last year was a great success but we are aiming to surpass last year’s amount.

Water Safety

All classes have water safety workshops in school today (Tuesday 2nd Dec).

Agreed Report

All families were e-mailed the Agreed Report from the Board of Management last week. If you didn’t receive it please contact Jennifer in the office.

Attendance

The attendance rate so far this school year is 94.1% which is an increase of 2.5% on last year’s figure. Well done.

2nd James O’R

3rd Aibhlinn

The winner of each category goes through to the next round. The children who won prizes will get their prizes tomorrow.

‘Re-turn’ Bottles/Cans

The ‘Re-turn’ initiative in the school is progressing very smoothly this year with a different family returning the bottles weekly. Thanks. All children will receive a Christmas Annual in early December from the proceeds of the scheme. I have been in contact with the Parents’ Association about ‘ideas’ on how to spend the money later in the school year.

Book Fair

The Book Fair was very successful again this year. It was great to see the children so enthusiastic about visiting the Book Fair on a daily basis. They were engrossed in their books and long may this continue. The school received approximately €1,050 book commission on sales over the week. Thanks to Mrs Campbell for co-ordinating the Book Fair again this year.

Consent Forms

Each pupil has been given two forms today to bring home and to be filled out by their parent/guardian. These forms must be sent back by Wednesday 26th November. One form is for the cold school lunches which we hope to have up and running after Christmas (this will be down to the company looking after it; unfortunately we have no control over the time frame). The second form is for the Flu Vaccine which will be administered on December 10th. If you do not wish for your child to have the Flu Vaccine there is no need to inform us just send the form back blank.
