I talk about the Pillars often but today I want to focus on Access.... starting out on your inclusion Journey, ask yourself

1. Is what we are doing accessible to all employees current and future, take in to account abilities of all levels, and any hearing, seeing and learning impacts on work.
2. Does everyone have access to this information- how can we ensure they do. For example, if you doing a new DEI policy - how is everyone going to access it and have you taken all levels of education in to account.
3. Does everyone have access to the jobs your organization is creating... where are you advertising, have your job specs been through a gender decoder or language software check, are you contacting access programs in Colleges in your area, are you contacting disability forums.

Yes I am now quoting myself.... the reason being, I find myself saying it to organisations ALOT.... change is not easy and for the most part, if you are going to embrace Diversity and Inclusion you are going to have to change.

It also means the organization will be better......so if you want to be better, you will want to get uncomfortable and tackle what’s hard for your employees and customers!

I often say don’t quote me on this, but In this case, please do....

This is one of my favorite Dr Seuss quotes ... and one I used to try and say over and over to myself when I came out almost 12 years ago.... not being authentic takes soooooo much energy and often times we don’t realise the internal struggles of others.....coming out was one of the hardest AND most rewarding things I have done in my life... and the people that mattered and loved me didn’t mind and thankfully the others didn’t matter. Happy Thursday everyone and I hope you have the joy of being yourself today 💜💜💜

Practicality is behind everything we do in Pink Polar Bear... a Diversity and Inclusion strategy is only ever as good as the tools that are put in place to set your organisation on the right path.

What does that mean in reality..... well it means
1. Finding out how to set realistic goals.
2. A step by step plan on how to set up and develop diverse networks that guide what you do.
3. Knowing what training and development is actually required and how to measure it.
4. What it looks like once you have achieved some of the goals you set out to.

International Day against Homophobia Transphobia and Biphobia.... people may feel when they are living in certain nations that there is no longer a need for such days, but just last year 350 people were murdered for being trans, that doesn’t account for the others within the LBBTPlus community, the reality is, the figures have actually risen over the last few years so this day acts as a reminder of the people who have lost their lives and that the journey to freedom for the community continues
