🌿Activity of the Week-Spring Bucket List🌿

Over the weekend, why not dip into the Spring Activities Bucket List and find something fun to do outdoors. There's lot to chose from, the only limit is your imagination.

🐝Or why not look out for giant queen bees coming out of hibernation at this time of year. I've seen several over the past few days. Remember to let your Dandelions grow for longer this Spring as they are a vital source of feed for the emerging Bees. Even postponing lawn cutting for a few weeks can make a huge difference to the Bees.

🌸Spring time is a blessing to behold - trees and plants bloom with fledgling new growth; birds preen, sing and showcase as romance fills the air; flowers reach upwards towards the warming Spring sun; and the days begin their silent stretch after their long winter retreat.

It's all outside our doors to enjoy, so take some time to let Nature into your life this weekend.

It's WAY MORE valuable for children to gain an in-depth understanding of the concepts that symbols like words, letters, numbers, and math equations represent. Children are THE experts at this kind of learning, it comes naturally to them through self-directed play. They organically absorb the complexities of concepts with all of their senses.

Memorization is the easy-peasy stuff, the icing on the cake. Apes can do it. Flashcards are a profound waste of a child's precious time and ability.

Here’s how to do bedtime stories for your kids, according to two master storytellers, from The Guardian:

"It’s easier to read from a book, or recycle stories you already know – but sometimes making up stories is better.

In my years as a journalist, I’ve had some challenging assignments: file a piece about an underground dinner for Michelin-starred chefs that ends at 3am in time for it to hit the morning pages, write an obit for an almost-dead person by calling up his nearest and dearest and asking for a few punchy quotes. But all pale in comparison with my new assignment which, like Sisyphus, I must complete nightly.

“Tell me a story about a book that is broken, and then the unicorn comes for a sleepover, but she’s really big,” my preschooler barks from her bed, her face awash in the neon pink emanating from her polar bear nightlight."
