We’ve gone Electric! ⚡️

With the current fuel crisis and prices of AvGas, we decided to get an SEAI grant and upgrade our Cessna172 to solar electric.

The system runs on 30kW of solar panels mounted on top of the wing with double sided tape, connected directly to an electric motor. The battery was too heavy so we didn’t fit one.

Flight is restricted to daylight only, in sunshine. Flying through or under clouds is not advised, nor is flying on a wet day, or in the evening, or any typical day in Ireland. Maybe we will relocate to a desert somewhere?

Anyway, come try it and be our next test pilot!
