🌟 Special Olympics Ireland Information Session at Sligo College🌟
We were delighted to welcome representatives from Special Olympics Ireland for an inspiring and engaging information session with our students.
A special thank you to Claire Kelly, Occupational Therapist and Special Olympics coach, Liana Leonard, Volunteer Officer with Special Olympics Ireland, Finola Monaghan, Head Coach of Special Olympics Basketball, and John Kelly, Special Olympics athlete and ambassador, for sharing their experiences and insights.
Claire spoke passionately about her role as both a mother to her son John, who has Down syndrome, and as an Occupational Therapist. She highlighted how supporting people with additional needs creates positive outcomes for everyone involved, strengthening communities and enriching lives.
The session showcased the incredible impact of Special Olympics Ireland and the valuable opportunities available to volunteers. We hope many of our students will get involved as volunteers, gaining meaningful work experience while making a real difference in the lives of others.
Thank you to our guests for an inspiring visit and for encouraging our students to become part of something truly special. 💙💛
